Silvertop ash is a moderately durable and relatively light hardwood compared to other eucalyptus like spotted gum and ironbark. The timber has a medium texture with a straight grain, also showing noticeable growth rings. I buy all the wood I use making easels for my business, Easels Galore, from Uptons. Prices are good and like all wood nowadays quality can vary a bit due to government crackdowns on the harvesting of native timbers. I say this because it frustrates everyone in the timber industry and is not a reflection on Uptons.
Service is helpful and friendly and parking is very good. They often have woods that you may not find at other timber yards. In all honesty, since I have moved to the area in late 2018, I have not bothered to try anywhere else, as, in the past, I have used many timber suppliers, in Melbourne

It's great to have an alternative to the Big Green Shed! Friendly personalised service, prices competitive on majority of items, ability to buy fasteners (like larger landscaping screws) per each instead of prepacked, focus on quality items and materials, delivery is no problem, and for me it's close and convenient to pop in when I need stuff rather than saving up for a big shop. Also the only place I know that stocks quality termite resistant Australian Cypress (as an alternative to hardwood or toxic treated pine) for landscaping etc.
