It is not recorded how far back the unique crest of the Mabuni family has its origins but it is known to date back more than five centuries, and it carries the history of the family's famous samurai ancestors that ruled the old Ryukyu Period. Kenwa Mabuni was a 17th generation descendant of one of the most famous and bravest warriors of that kingdom - Kenyo Oshiro.
The style we teach and practice at the Academy is called Shitoryu. It is a prolific Japanese style that is practiced by several millions of people worldwide. In the late 1800's a fighting system known as Tode or Okinawan Te (known today as Karate), was practiced freely around the three provinces of Okinawa: Shuri, Naha and Tomari.
8th Dan Black Belt Instructor Con Kassis is the program director and head of the Academy. His Dan grade and also Master Degree (Shihan) are issued and certified in Japan by the late Grand Master Kenei Mabuni. Sensei Con has traveled to Japan more than 40 times in his career to learn the art and secrets of Shitoryu Karate-Do, the traditional style of karate devised by founder Kenwa Mabuni - one of the greatest masters in karate history.

A great Academy to start with. The people there are nice and very welcoming.
Sensei Rosanna is an amazing and wonderful person. She's very passionate about supporting students achieve their goals. The Academy teaches and promotes respect, manners, discipline, courage and patience. I highly and strongly recommend it to families striving to strengthen their children's self confidence and trust. Kids will love and enjoy learning lifelong skills that will benefit them in the long term. They will be able to stand up for themselves. In addition, the place is nice, quite and well presented. It is a great

My daughter's were at another club and about to quit karate, they found it boring and routine, I suggested they take a class with Rosanna. Since then they have found a new love of the sport, the Instructors are very professional and experienced, they take time with each individual student no matter what level they are at and guide them in the most… professional and polite manner. Con and Rosanna have helped my daughter's gain confidence and discipline, they have helped them open up and get out of their shells. The training is never pressured or uncomfortable, they take the students along

In late February 2017 my children aged 6 & 11 decided to try karate, and we were referred to Kassis Karate by friends. I visited their website, where they had two different introductory offers, and signed both children up the offer of five (5) lessons and a gi (uniform) for only $29. I was contacted by Rosanna KASSIS who welcomed us to Kassis Karate, and also by Neville who is the senior instructor at the local dojo in Riddells Creek. On Tuesday 28 February 2017 the kids attended their first training session at Riddells Creek.. They both had the time of their life, and the instruction and assistance
