What is the aim of your Massage Therapist? The fibres in your muscles adhere together when they become tight and knotted. New blood flow is denied to these areas resulting in a build-up of waste products that would normally be removed when new blood circulates through these areas. This build-up of waste products results in pain being experienced in your affected muscle/s as well as referral pain to other areas of your body.
The aim of massage is to restore muscle function by breaking up adhesion's in muscle fibres and tendons. This helps to increase blood circulation allowing for new blood to move through bringing in much needed fresh oxygen and nutrients whilst removing deoxygenated blood and waste products from the affected area.

A trigger point is a focal area of hyper-irritability that is locally sensitive to pressure and can refer symptoms (usually pain) to other areas of your body, or simply it is a small contraction knot in muscle tissue. It affects muscle by keeping it both tight and weak. At the same time, a trigger point maintains a hard contraction on the muscle fibres that it is a part of.

I have been receiving regular treatment by Michelle for over five years now. Every 6-7 weeks I book a 90 minute remedial massage. Michelle has been able to work through and help me manage a long-term recurring back problem from a car accident I had in my late teens. She has also worked closely (with express permission) with my Osteopath who originally referred me to Michelle. If you like a firm targeted massage, I highly recommend Michelle. She is the only therapist that has ever been able to properly release the tension in my calves and glutes. My very favourite part of the massage is the last

Thank you Michelle. My lower back pain has all but gone, such relief. After listening to my problems, you knew exactly what was required for my treatment. I have seen numerous massage therapists over the years with little joy. I will be back to see you in 2 weeks. If they had 10 stars you would get them all.
