If you want powder skiing, then you need to ski and/or snowboard in Japan. Up to 30m of the stuff can fall any given season meaning that if you time it well, you will get at least one 1+ foot dump any 7 days you are there between late December and mid-March. Most of the time it snows non-stop with 3-4 foot accumulating literally overnight.
Japan is a land of rich culture, delicious food, beautiful scenery, futuristic cities and friendly and inviting people. Whilst you will get to experience a taste of Japan if you just travel to the snow, the real Japan awaits beyond the ski resort boundaries.

Whiteroom were professional, slick and friendly. Communication ahead of getting here was re-assuring and clear (important when you’ve never been to an area).
Our guide, Connor, was friendly, approachable and most importantly with a mixed fitness and ability group - adaptable and patient making everyone feel included.
In resort we were able to adjust days to suit our needs (I’m sure that wouldn’t always be able to be accommodated but the fact they were prepared to switch was awesome).
And finally the skiing they found us in a low snow year was awesome.

I've just finished my fourth Whiteroom tour and this one (the 13 night Inter-Island tour) was just as good as the others in previous years. I couldn't be happier with Whiteroom, from their efficient booking process to the professionalism of the guides and the overall running of the tour. I found the operation to be very focused on safety and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a guided tour in Japan.

First time touring, back country skiing for 3 out of the 5 of us. We did lift assisted off piste. All above average skiers looking for a challenge. We skied with Connor and Stubbs- both as good as I was hoping for if not better. They adapted our plans based on the # of hikes, runs, we were looking for and how technical.
I had many ?’s leading up, especially given the time difference between states and Japan- had I known how smooth and ideal it would be, I wouldn’t have been concerned.
Side note- Matthew suites was a very nice, comfortable, convenient place in niseko

We’ve skied twice now for longer guided tours with Whiteroom. Last time we were guided by Ross first part and Conner second part and this time 8 days by Ross. Despite the warm weather we have had some stellar days in fantastic snow as the team made the right calls to head to the skiing areas in the locations where we were. We made some last minute adjustments to the planned schedule and that was the best call!! We escaped the warm weather. Never thought we had to mitigate that in Hokkaido, but this year is a strange one for our local mountains in Switzerland as well.

An incredibly poorly thought out day lead to an awful days skiing. After skiing the best snow of our lives yesterday, our tour today was one of the worst skiing experiences.
Despite the good snow and us making it adamantly clear we are strong skiers they took us to the tamest mountain in the region, and we skied the easiest gates possible.
A truly disappointing day, and would advise people to really look into who they are skiing with before they head out with this company.
