My name is Susan Wasley. I'm an independent Certified Kitchen & Bathroom designer working in Melbourne and the surrounding area. I've been designing award-winning kitchens for 30+ years. I'd love to work with you to create a beautiful, functional kitchen and help make the whole process easy and enjoyable. I also love designing bathrooms, laundries, home offices, wardrobes - in fact any storage/work space in your home.

Deciding to build a new kitchen (or indeed any home renovation) can be exciting, but also very confusing. So many options and so many decision to be made. Door styles, bench-top materials, tiles or glass splash-back and which size and style of appliances. And there are so many providers of kitchens and cabinets with such varying standards.
I have been designing these spaces for 30+ years - and for many of those years it was in the 'kitchen industry'. Because I was never happy being constrained by the limitations of kitchen/bathroom companies, I have branched out as an independent designer. I can now take the time to sit and listen to what it is you really need and want.
A new, white, bright traditional style kitchen was wanted for this standard weatherboad home in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. Walls and doorways were moved and a bulky fireplace removed to make a large family space with a more intimate sitting room in an adjacent room. Drawers were included where possible, a walk in pantry built for the main food storage (with microwave) and other specialised fittings used to make the best use of the whole space.
The focus of this big, bold kitchen is the beautiful island bench. This being a new build, the options were limitless, but the owners wanted a large, period-style design with plenty of storage. The sheer size of the space was a challenge, but alternating shades of white and a butler's pantry in which to tuck away clutter keep the overall look streamlined and extremely versatile.
A complete makeover of a small en-suite bathroom and walk-in robe with additional floor space added by closing in a large light-well. The clients wanted a glamorous en-suite bathroom with views from the freestanding bath over the adjacent river & cliff-tops. A raised platform for the bath accentuated by the contrast of light and dark stone tiles.
