Services
The facilities and services offered by Hobart Community Veterinary Hospital are open to all members of the public. Hobart Community Veterinary Hospital offers exceptional veterinary care with the personalised customer service you would expect from your own GP. We operate just like a normal veterinary facility however all our proceeds are donated back to providing veterinary services at a discounted or charity rate for the less fortunate animals.
This hospital was made possible by the generosity and sponsorship from the Elise Cameron Foundation working in conjunction with the Animal Welfare League of Queensland. Tens of thousands of Tasmania's animals thank you. The AWLQ specialises in the care, shelter, and rehoming of cats and dogs. Since 1959, the AWLQ has opened its doors and hearts to all companion animals in need.
At Hobart Community Veterinary Hospital we understand veterinary bills can be large and unexpected. To ensure sick and injured animals have access to quality veterinary care we have various financial assistance schemes to help our clients with their veterinary bills.* As part of our philosophy, we aim to reduce the overpopulation of dogs and cats in Tasmania.
Volunteering is a rewarding way to be involved in your community, learn new skills and help us help the animals. If you have a skill or service you would like to offer that is not listed above, please show your interest and specify details in the form at the bottom of the page. As part of our philosophy, we aim to reduce the overpopulation of dogs and cats in Tasmania.
Did you know that one tablespoon of parvo diarrhoea has enough virus to infect and kill over 10 MILLION dogs? The staff at Hobart Community Vets knows only too well the devastation to the puppy/dog population Parvovirus is causing. We still get that sickening feeling when we see a creature so small and beautiful look so weak and lifeless and unfortunately this is only too familiar because of Parvo.

My dog is very anxious and was very scared and always has been at vet visits. Wasn't ideal being such a busy clinic but everyone I met was great. Had his surgery done quicker than expected and they accept NDN vouchers

This is hard for me to do , but if anyone else is wondering what vet to use , Hobart Community has to be number 1 . We recently had to euthanize our little girl . She was 17 and a half . They helped us thru this and went above and beyond . Very caring . Thankyou " Dr Aleasha " especially . The card was beautiful and very thoughtful . Carol .

After a long battle with bladder cancer and old age, we had to say goodbye to our darling boy of 12 year's. It wasn't an easy decision, but the vet's and nurse's made us as comfortable as we could be as we sat with out boy as he went off to sleep. Thankyou for your kindness, compassion and the fabulous care our boy got before passing such a wonderful team.

Dr Lucy... So caring and ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Our girl (11 yrs old) has had 2 major surgeries and survived both in the past 1 and 1/2 Years.... Unfortunately 3 weeks ago we got told she now has Lymphoma Cancer, surgery we can't do! Her check up today and she told us when the time comes she will come to our house to do it, so we can say goodbye too OUR BEAUTIFUL girl (that has been a nightmare to all the staff over the years as she is a pitbull that gets a bit protective towards dad) but NEVER no judgement. Thank you to each and every one of you that has given her the chance she deserves as OUR FAMILY

Our dogs vet Lisa was lovely & extremely compassionate. Our little guy is extremely anxious when visiting the vets, to the point we can't even put him on the exam table without him climbing straight back up onto us & holding on with his paws for dear life!
His heart medication is a much more reasonable price than our previous vets.
Highly recommended!
