Enhance Byford Podiatry
Enhance Byford Podiatry offers the highest level of care and service to our patients. To achieve this, we aim for excellence in all areas; in our podiatrists, in their knowledge and experience, in the treatments they prescribe, and in the medical technologies we use.

Rather than 'churn and burn' patients, Enhance Byford Podiatry uses exhaustive testing in order to make the correct diagnosis and commence the best possible treatment for a condition. We are often referred to patients whose existing treatments have proven ineffective, as we specialise in hard-to-diagnose cases and rare conditions.
Services
The OG GaitScan is an excellent diagnostic tool that uses a pressure-responsive mat to essentially scan and map the biomechanics of the patient's foot. This digital 'cast' of the foot provides the podiatrist with a wealth of information unavailable to the naked eye, allowing them to diagnose the causes of problems more effectively, as well as order orthotics customised to the finest degree.
We are one of the only podiatry clinics in Perth to offer shockwave therapy. Popularised by Olympic teams as a treatment for injury recovery, shockwave therapy is non-invasive, using high-energy sound waves to stimulate nerve fibres. Shockwave therapy has proven to be very effective against a range of chronic soft tissue conditions of the lower limb, such as chronic Achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis.
Mostly found in diabetic patients, atherosclerosis is the build-up and calcification of the arteries in the leg. In these instances, when the Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) is unusually high due to plaque, a Toe Brachial Index (TBI) is performed. We carry out TBI to assess the foot's vascular condition by obtaining systolic pressure at the toe.
Orthotics are made to support proper function of the foot and lower leg. Orthotics are prescribed to patients, based on their individual requirements, to correct any biomechanical issues that may be causing the patient pain, discomfort, or impeding the use of their lower limbs. By wearing orthotics, pressure is taken off the affected joints and muscles; providing both pain relief and long-term support that can often correct a problem.
Doppler ultrasound is used to assess the quality of blood flow through the vessels in the patient's leg and foot. The process uses the Doppler effect (the shifting sound you hear as an ambulance passes by) by sending sound waves through the skin which are reflected depending on the volume and velocity of blood flow.
