Services
When we opened in 2006 we knew that small independent optometry businesses were an endangered species. Large corporates have overwhelmed our small health care profession and tried to turn us into specialty retailers. Well, we look after the health of your eyes and visual system first and foremost. We appreciate that many people have their eyes checked out of concern for their eyes, not necessarily because they want new glasses.
You might say Why would I bother? My eyes seem fine! Or you might think that the only reason to get your eyes checked is if you think you need spectacles. Needing spectacles is only one possible outcome of an eye exam! Many causes of blindness or vision impairment do not announce themselves by giving you blurred vision, or red or painful eyes.
After first training as an Optical Dispenser, Dr Simon Little, gained his BSc(Hons) in Optometry from the City University, London in 1987; MSc (Optometry) from the University of Bradford (UK) in 1991, and first practised Optometry in Queensland in 1992, graduating from QUT in 1996 with a PhD for his research on the layer of tears between the eye and the contact lens.
Melanie is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA). She has worked in the private accountancy practice and small business sectors in both England and Australia. Melanie brings a multitude of skills and knowledge to our practice and is committed to further honing her skills in Optical Dispensing and Customer Service as well as being our link to the world of business and taxation.
Glaucoma, a disease of the Optic Nerve, is one of the major causes of blindness in the developed world. Most people with the early stages of this disease are not aware that there is anything wrong, yet later in the disease process treatments tend not to be so effective. Dr Simon Little of North Lakes Optometry is encouraging people who have a family history of glaucoma to have their eyes examined regularly.

Sorry, I wasnt aware of that. Ive removed the review. Its pretty pricey charging someone who cant afford to buy glasses an $80 anti reflective coating cost isnt it. And of course I couldnt, had I known I would end up looking like Kato on revenge of the pinkpanther I wouldve gone and paid for some and not used the hcc..now these are only good for at home use unfortunately. The lady I dealt with twice and spoke to over the phone is very unfriendly, I still think that. The younger one

Not a good experience, no basic courtesy or respect shown when collecting my glasses, wasn't even asked if they fitted, had to request they be adjusted. Just rude. Regardless if a customer is a pensioner or not everyone should be treated with respect.

I went to North Lakes Optometry after searching reviews on Google and also wanting to get out of the low cost sausage factory optometrists. Simon is very knowledgeable and thorough. Highly recommended.
