Steve has over 35 years of experience as an optometrist having graduated from UNSW in 1982. He has been providing eye care to the Shire from the Gymea practice for over 30 years and is a founding partner of Shire Optometrists. My partner needed new prescription Glasses for Cycling and we were told Rudy projects were available at Cronulla store. We met Tony Cole and ended up buying just not Rudy's, but Designer sunglasses as well. Tony also repaired some other glass for free. His testing service was excellent and would recommend anyone to see Tony for their eyeware his expertise and knowledge is legendary.

Went in to get new lenses put in my sunglasses. Lady at the front desk was very helpful. When I went to pickup the glasses, first thing that happened, one lense fell out. Optometrist mentioned I must have popped it out. He proceeded to put lenses back in, changed screws, and now I have one buckled lense that is about to pop out. Rude service on second visit, and an absolutely pathetic experience with the optometrist. Never again. Two stars for the lady at front desk.

I recently was tested and fitted for glasses at Shire Optometrists at Cronulla . The glasses were primarily for golf as my long sight had faded badly over the years.
I cannot recommend both Richard Bell the Optometrist and Tony Cole the Optical Dispenser highly enough. The professionalism and expertise displayed by both was outstanding and the Oakley sunglasses I received have transformed my golf game.
The glasses I was fitted with previously by a large chain dispensary were shown to grossly inadequate by Richard’s prescription and Tony’s knowledge of sport focused glasses.

I’ve been with Shire optometrists for many years and have had alway exemplary service and attention to details. They have helped me When times are tough with current circumstances and what sales they have at the time. The advice on cleaning and attention to maintaining your glasses has been amazing.
Let alone my actual examinations for prescription extensive back of eye examinations. Then there is the styling when choosing frames, they know their stuff as to what suites you.

I would like to thank Tony at Shire Optometrists at Cronulla for providing me with a pair of Bifocal Swim Goggles. Now while I’m swimming to the point at Cronulla I can see the bottom , with clarity, and read… my watch being distance or time. Brilliant optometrist. Due to my strong prescription my main problem has always been having glasses with thick lenses which magnify the size of my eyes, even with maximum lens thinning. After a consultation, the guys at Shire optometrists managed to recommend glasses and a lens type that suited me perfectly, with no magnification or thick lenses. for the first time in 15 years i am happy wearing my glasses as opposed to my contact lenses. Fantastic place, trust these guys to come through with the goods!
