Table wasn't clean, food from last person meal still on table . ( Not cool) knives and forks in dirty wooden box , literally dirty .
I had fish and chips, fish was overcooked batter oily and fish frozen not fresh, no taste and dry. Salad not fresh and store bought .
Would I eat there again after spending $80 on fish and chips a few oily prawns an one cocktail....no.
One waitress for entire venue and very slow.

NO SURPRISE HERE.
I read the reviews before booking here for my kids NYE dinner and should’ve trusted my instinct. The experience was a complete disaster. Blackbirds has no care for its patrons whatsoever and we experienced it first hand.
Firstly, the restaurant would not cater for my kids dietary needs. We requested that the restaurant provide the same main meal but the waiter refused by saying “we can’t do that”. Wow, really?
Having paid $125 per head for a below average tasting meal that was simply too far from the mark. And to top it all off, we were charged a further $40 on top

Beware scam of hidden charges or being charge twice for set menus already prepaid on their site, please check your bill carefully. I was going to let this go, but it too unbelievable not to share and warn others.
I had paid for 2 at $125pp each online for an early New Year Eve’s Dinner, total $250 (inc. gst) and received an email of Full Payment. You can not book NYE dinner at Blackbird without payment online.
Unfortunately we had an early booking 5pm, I can see the tables with white cloth are the NYE set menu customers and we were the one of first ones there.

Unfortunately today's visit to the Blackbird Cafe was extremely disappointing. Had high hopes from a previous visit 2 years ago but was left very dissatisfied. Chose this restaurant for a 12.30pm lunch. The tables and chairs were left dirty and covid cleaning was almost non existent. Toilets were filthy with used masks left on the floor, overflowing waste bins and dirty wash basins. Food ordering was a chore - disinterested staff member, took the order down wrong despite it being clarified and repeated three times, food arrived incorrectly to table..looks like the required food message was not

Been there for a dinner with a couple of friends. Started off as usually with us sitting down and our order being taken. We sat there for about and hour or so waiting for our food. After a while we got up to the front counter to ask about our order and the first words that came out of the person's mouth was "are you guys ready to order". By then we realised that our order was never placed and we just sat there at our table for an hour waiting for nothing. By then we asked the waiter that got our order about what he did to our order. Food was average - menu is what you would expect at a cafe just a bit more expensive. Stay away from the burger- they drown it in this sweet sauce which should never been on a burger. Serving staff were non existent. Went on a public holiday which leads to a surcharge which is fair enough . However when paying more you expect to have some service . We had to seek out staff to order our food and then seek her out again when we had a query . When I commented about the lack of service her response was indifference . Being close to tourist attractions it’s a shame visitors to our city would have

We had a work Christmas lunch at Black Bird Cafe on 10 December. We had great time there. Food was fantastic. Staff were great and very accommodating and friendly. Place was super busy but service was very quick. Specially, a young lady named Harpreet was looking after our table and she was very helpful, attentive and we really enjoyed the service with smile. We will definitely visit Black Bird Cafe again.

The worst place I have ever eaten. Tables where dirty when we arrived, cups were dirty and had red lipstick on it. Ordered mock-tails for my daughters and they brought out the wrong drinks that were actually alcohol beverages. Food was absolutely disgusting and found a hair in one of the burgers. Spent $360 dollars for 9 people for half the food not to be eaten. Only one of the staff members were pleasant. Sunday the 14th of November

Waited 50 minutes once our order was taken, enquired where it was. Other people that arrived way after us got their orders. They blamed kitchen staff when we were seated right next to the waiters station. Waiter never followed up to see where our order was! When food finally came out it was incorrect, had no time to change as we had a show to… get to. Turns out it was the manager that served us. Don’t expect to have a business if this is the way you operate your business! There were plenty of staff for the amount of clientele. A table of 10 behind us had waited 45 minutes and walked

Management/boss was an absolute joke. The owner was nothing short of a grub with rude service. Beside the bartenders being lovely until the boss walked in. We were brought food that was not even ordered then… charged for it also.. an extra $200 was charged. After arguing that we did not order it we were threatened that the police would be called if we did not pay.. other staff members had agreed and witnessed us pay for all our meals but “could not go against the boss”... absolutely scam and joke of a place. Will not waste my time there again
