During the 1950s, TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) was modernised in an attempt to integrate it into Western Scientific Medicine. Unfortunately, the concepts of Yin/Yang, Qi, Meridians and Pulse Diagnosis, etc. (the foundations of this Medical Art), do not fit well into a health science model. Most Acupuncturists these days are university trained.
Traditionally, the Master would pass down his skills and knowledge to the student in a clinical environment, and this was based on the "Ancient Classic Texts". Unfortunately, this classical approach to learning has been almost entirely replaced by an academic, prescriptive approach which can often fall short of the potential of this wonderful ancient art.

I have a background in Strength Training & Conditioning and more than 30 years of training and study in the Martial Arts. My journey into Oriental Medicine began in 1991 when Western Medicine failed to help a training injury. The amazing results I had from acupuncture changed my life and career. I regularly travel to Japan to further develop my knowledge and skills and hopefully reward my patients with excellent results.
Almost all aspects of ill-health can be either rectified, improved or controlled (with a few exceptions). Oriental Medicine focuses on treating the underlying cause of disease because, without a cause, there can be no symptoms. Assuming we are born healthy, lifestyle choices or circumstance is the main reason our bodies become unbalanced, e.g work, sport, diet, emotional stress, etc.
