If your lenses have not felt comfortable or you are looking to try them as a break from glasses, talk to us about the options. Retinal photography is the ability to take a digital image of the back of the eye through the opening of the pupil. The latest research is indicating an alarming incidence of myopia (short-sightedness) as children spend more time on near tasks/digital devices.

The front part of your eye (the cornea and the lens) absorbs most UV-B rays, but these rays may cause even more damage to your eyes than UV-A rays. UV rays may lead to macular degeneration, a leading cause of vision loss for older Americans. UV rays, especially UV-B rays, may also cause some kinds of cataracts.
We are very excited to announce that at Village Optics we will now be offering the incredible OCT scans. If you have never heard of OCT - think of it like taking a high resolution 3D CT scan through the individual cell layers of the retina (back wall of the eye) or the front of the eye structures. Before OCT technology we could only guess how various disease processes or age-related changes affected the eye.

We're so lucky to have Village Optics in Summer Hill! Excellent clinical care and lenses that I can actually see with! They also have beautiful, fun quality frames and brands you don't see everywhere. This is important to me as I wear glasses all the time and regard my glasses as an accessory that need to work with what I am wearing and doing. I always come out of Village Optics feeling fantatsic!

Amazing practice! Extremely professional optometrist who just goes above and beyond. I was amazed that this practice was equipped with all the latest technology and retina scans that were required to monitor my Macular Degeneration. I usually have to wait months for my Retina specialist appointments to get the same level of screening. The level of patient care is also incredible. I could not recommend this place highly enough.
