The 'arch' of the foot is not an 'arch' but a bulge on the inside mid-section of the foot. The foot appears to have an arch when not weight bearing, but no arch when weight bearing. When the child walks, the toes 2,3,4,5 claw at the ground on push-off, and the joint in the big toes curls upwards. If over 4.5 years and cannot turn the feet in and out without the hands turning in or out.
Children's shoes must be constructed properly and must fit properly. We check our patient's shoes for healthy design features and for correct fit, and provide parents/ guardians with advice. Hypermobile children's balance improves immediately a properly fitted shoe is placed on their feet. These children should not be told to take off their shoes at kindergarten/ day care/ school.

I took my son for a consultation at this practice. It was the worst medical advisory experience of my life. After asking pointed questions the lead practitioner proceeded to ask me to sign a form stating that I was denying my son proper medical care by refusing his treatment regime (boots, etc). We have since moved back to Boston and received proper world class advice from Boston's Children's Hospital - where two specialist doctors found his advice to be I'll informed, poor and unreasonable. Stay away from this place at all cost!

Incredibly rude doctor who has a sign that says: violent behavior is not acceptable. This says it all. We pushed back on his recommendation after seeking second and third opinions and were asked to leave and never come back. He refused to see my son again. Apparently questions and parental concerns are not allowed.
I should add that we got a 4th and 5th opinion in Boston’s Children’s Hospital (world class doctors) and they were also opposed to his recommendations. We did not report him to Australian authorities or medical organizations because we moved out of the country shortly after.
