Both Hapkido and HapKi-SunDo have as a goal the union of the body and mind, but for different purposes. Whilst Hapkido is a self-defense subject, the best self-defense is to achieve good physical health, which is connected to the ability to achieve good mental health, Hapki-SunDo focuses on the stretching, breathing, mindfulness and balance.

Hapkido is a martial art that instils into children a confidence to stand tall in the face of adversity. Kids learn the same techniques as adults for the simple reason these techniques work regardless of size, age, gender or strength. Because the syllabus is structured and detailed kids learn to concentrate on the subject being taught, translating to enhanced concentration skills at school.
Hapkido is a martial art that instils into teenagers and young adults a confidence to stand tall in the face of adversity. Hapkido does not teach simple kicking and punching as the only way to get out of a situation, . You will learn a complete practical self defence system with the power to control.

Dear John, my name is Eric. I live in Sydney. I did Taekwondo for four and half years. Although I did a bit Judo with a school friend and received my orange belt of it in 1989, did Goju Ryu Karate and received my yellow belt and did kickboxing when I was red belt of Taekwondo ready for black belt. I found something different until I did Hapkido and casually did Kenpo with my teachers. My Kenpo teacher's Mr. Crime actually studied Hapkido and Kenpo and also was a kickboxer. My opinion I think deadly arts so far are some such as Hapkido, Voviam, Japanese jujitsu, Kenpo. In Kenpo they teach Japanese

MHA offers a world class experience. Very insightful and professional. These masters offer very comprehensive teachings and training with a deep respect for tradition in a humble and friendly environment for anyone and everyone who is willing to join in. I am honoured to be a member and am always looking forward to the next class. Learning Hapkido has been a life-changing experience and continues to inspire more confidence as I progress.

My kids belong to the original Hapkido Club in Melbourne and I went to Fairfield to see what they had to offer as this is a breakaway club. When Olaf got wind that I was involved with the other club he proceeded to bag, put down, ridicule and criticise this other club. I was taken aback at this rude and unprofessional behaviour as the original club never said a bad word about him or the club. If you want a professional and welcoming environment, this is not for you.

Tried many clubs prior to Melbourne hapkido academy ,and what I found was no discipline,no self confidence,no etiquette and no leadership skills. With Melbourne hapkido my 3 kids have become confident and can handle themselves in any situation with the devastating techniques they've learnt. One of my kids was bullied at school, and now after 7 years of hapkido training he's become a school captain and respected by his peers.Master Cairney and Master Boon it's a amazing what both of you have contributed to all of the children through the art and discipline of hapkido.Thankyou so much and with much

I don't believe anyone that posts anonymously and makes rude comments. My two boys go there and we have been very happy. They get attention to bring them up to speed with the group and most importantly, my boys enjoy it. If the dojo wasn't any good then they wouldn't have such full classes. I find Olaf to be very friendly and accommodating. It has a great community / family friendly atmosphere.

I tried many other martial arts before landing on Hapkido. When doing a Taekwondo class they expected me to kick perfectly straight away like entering in a competition. Entered an Aikido club and was ignored. As soon as I arrived at Melbourne Hapkido I was welcomed and had a good talk about Hapkido and my training. Did a try-out and that was enough, I joined straight away and have been doing Hapkido for a few months now. Hapkido has it all. The instructors teach to my strengths, I like that, helping to build my confidence. The small classes are wonderful, I am amazed others have not found this
