Karin Adams is a Gold Coast based speech pathologist with more than 30 years of experience. She specialises in the assessment and management of speech, language and literacy learning skills in children from 0-12 years. Karin Adams Speech Pathology is a private speech pathology practice providing assessment and therapy services to children up to the age of 12 years of age.
Unfortunately services are not provided for High School aged or Adult clients. A formal medical diagnosis such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Hearing Impairment, Global Developmental Delay, etc. A specific communication diagnosis such as Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Specific Language Impairment, Phonological Disorder, Stuttering, or Articulation Disorder.

Karin is a speech pathologist with more than 30 years of clinical paediatric experience in the fields of Developmental Delay and Disorders in Speech and Language, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Early Intervention, Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), and Language for School Aged Learning.
Referrals are received from parents, school or childcare teachers, child health nurses, GP's or Medical Specialists. A medical referral is not necessary. Your first visit to this clinic will consist of an assessment, where Karin will use a range of formal and play based techniques to measure and assess your child's speech and language development.
You will need to contact the NDIS directly to complete an access request form. Once your NDIS access is approved, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) will contact you to begin the planning process. You manage the financial and administrative aspects of your plan and funding. You can choose your own therapists who do not need to be registered with the NDIS.
If you have Extras Cover within your Private Health Insurance which specifies Speech Pathology cover, you will be able to claim a portion of your speech pathology costs through your Private Health Fund. You may claim a Medicare rebate through the Chronic Disease Management programme, if you have a valid referral from your GP.
