Centenary Dance Academy

Inara Svalbe OBE started teaching ballet at Oxley in 1968. The studio has since grown in leaps, bounds and grand jets and now has a teaching staff of more than twenty-five teachers and assistant teachers and offers a wide range of classes and genres. The studio's latest change is a team-based approach to studio management as part of its move to new studios.

Tiny Tots Dance is a fun and friendly class for children from 18 months old until the age of 3. Toddlers love to dance and move to music and this class lets them explore how they can use their bodies and respond to rhythm. It is a great way to assist with a child's coordination and physical development, allowing them to learn and master new skills at their own pace.

Teaches foundational dance skills which enhance coordination, strength and balance, assisting with general physical development as well as providing a wonderful platform for future dance and physical activities. Fine-motor and gross-motor skills are practiced, providing an all-round form of development.

Expands on teaching the required foundational and technical skills to enable our little dancers to move confidently into our Prep Ballet classes. An important outcome for our Creative Ballet students is the feeling of belonging and participating confidently in the class.

Children are gently encouraged to work with their peers as part of a group, follow teacher directions and learn and practice skills such as active listening, taking turns and sharing.Each week children grow in confidence as they become more familiar with the Creative Ballet routine and as they learn and master new skills.

We are very excited to be introducing Creative Tap and Jazz to our class list this year. Creative Tap and Jazz is a great foundational program to introduce our youngest students to the two complimentary styles of tap and jazz. Using fun upbeat music, the class develops the necessary skills for our young dancers, such as music, rhythm, expressive movement and co-ordination.
