It was founded by Optometrist Dirk Den Dulk, and later purchased by Shane Hambling. We can claim to be one of the longest established optical practices in the Illawarra. During the five years Shane worked for OPSM he travelled throughout NSW as relief manager, as well as managing OPSM Warrawong for a time.
Over the last 33 years Shane has developed a deep understanding of the technical side of Optical Dispensing, particularly the dispensing of Multi-Focal lenses, he has also designed and imported sunglasses for flying, safety glasses for shooting and to this day still creates one off "special" lenses for shooters.

Emily Langley is one of our Optometrists at Woonona Eyecare. She is passionate about providing optical solutions to ensure everyone can learn, work and enjoy life as best as possible. Emily completed a Master of Clinical Optometry and Bachelor of Science (Vision Science) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW).
Brian Lau is a caring and enthusiastic Optometrist who treats all his patients with the utmost care and consideration. Graduating from the University of New South Wales in 2014 with Honours, Brian has particular interests in the fitting of specialty contact lenses and myopia control.
He has extensive experience in children's vision and is also therapeutically qualified, meaning he is able to manage a variety of ocular health conditions from red eyes, to foreign bodies and glaucoma.If Brian isn't busy at work, you might find him traveling with his family or catching up with friends over a good coffee and great food.

I honestly wish I could rate higher. I had an eye emergency at 6pm on a Monday night and rang to see if I could make an appointment for the following day. They told me to come in immediately despite already being closed. Emily spent over an hour with me checking that everything was okay. She even followed up with me a month later to make sure nothing changed. I'll never go anywhere else now.

Excellent, personalised service and a very caring and friendly team. Shane went above and beyond to create customised lenses for me, and even offered at-work dropoff since I work in the area. This kind of service is something you won't see in the big optical franchises. Price was fantastic as well, I expected to pay much more for the craftsmanship than I did. Couldn't recommend anyone better
