The Ark Animal Hospital is the biggest vet clinic in Palmerston. We are open six days a week and are on call 24/7 with emergency service, providing quality care and veterinary service for all pet species. We're always looking for ways to give you the best possible service and ways to help reduce the likelihood of future illness.

All pets should get a check up from their Veterinarian at least once a year. For older or special needs pets an examination might need to be more often depending on their health status. A friendly professional vet consultation will include assessment of all body systems and discussion of any concerns.
Our clinic offers advice on pet diets, nutrition and husbandry for all pets. Most of our nurses are qualified nutritionists and are able to give you tailored advice for your pet. Professional advice on Diet and Husbandry including medication diets for dogs, cats, birds and reptiles. Good nutrition is important for pet.

Waited at the front of the clinic since 7:30am on a Saturday, as according to google that is there opening time only to arrive and find it doesn’t open till 8. We finally get in with our sick animal who has a blocked urethra only to hear that no vet is in, and the nurse at the clinic is not ‘confident’ and doesn’t know what to do. Lady at the… counter disappears and we can hear the phones ringing non stop. My husband starts calling other vets as it’s now 8:30 and still no vet. Lady finally comes back to the counter. And she say’s there still no sign of

During the recent Christmas holiday break, and at around 10pm at night, we realized our blue heeler needed emergency critical care. Dr Steven Cutter greeted us at the clinic and he handled our dogs condition expertly. The next day when we called for Macky, Dr Cutter took time to demonstrate how we could support out dog at home. He called us twice to follow up on how Macky was going and invited us to ring him if we had any further questions - which my husband did. Our blue heeler was completely smitten with him. Considering the service he provided, Dr Cutter's fees were extremely reasonable. We

"A week to early is better then a minute to late."
Putting down a pet is never an easy choice to make, especially when they seem they might have a bit more time, I had 2 options but wasn't comfortable with either, but I called and spoke to Jane and she was amazing at helping me through the process and gave me all the information I needed to be okay with the choice.
Unfortunately I have had 2 pets put down here but both have been very calm, respectful and kind experience. I recommend Arch for the hard to make choices, they have helped ease the transition so thankyou

A really good vets with wonderfull staff who go that extra distance. Good practical advice for my dog because we live in Arnhem land northern Australia in a community where conditions are a little tough. So my dog Daluk had a clean bill of health and great teeth (loves her fresh bones) The vets recommended the 7 vaccinantion for kennels and tropical diseases. Can not recommend these guys enough and and they a good reputation for all the native animals and reptiles and also have a vet on 24/7 for emergency call outs and plenty of parking with disabled parking and entrance. Could be not more helpfull

They go above and beyond for your pets. I lost my beautiful cat of 13 years but the ark tried very hard to save him and I will be for ever grateful for that. We got this beautiful letter in the mail accepting… their condolences with my boys paw print in the card which led me to get the most meaningful tattoo that means the world to me. Thank you to the ark I was able to have RJ with me for ever ❤️❤️

The recent loss of our 12yo Bull Arab was devastating. The staff at the Ark were kind, compassionate & understanding of the impact at this time. We just received 2 cards in the mail from them with one of them having our Bull Arabs footprints. Although it made us cry (again) the thoughtfulness of this gesture from the Ark was remarkable.

The team at Ark Vets are amazing. So helpful, kind and definitely a group of animal lovers at heart. My little man runs up the path whenever we go in and doesn’t want to leave.
To anyone looking into getting a puppy, or anyone with a puppy. I would also strongly recommend booking in for puppy preschool. A great way to socialise your little man or woman and perfect for making the vets less scary! Jess and Mia are amazing and will teach you everything you need to know.
