After many years of negotiations in 1976 the Club was finally granted 16 acres outside but adjacent to the race track by the Lands Department. The land was sufficient to develop three new holes by volunteers under President Jack Kerr in 1979 and President Joe Curcuruto in 1980.
Then in 1987, the Club commenced a long road with the Lands Department comprising frustrating meetings, negotiations and lobbying to obtain additional land to provide an 18 hole course. The extra land was obtained in 1989 and special thanks to Tom Pyne, the Chairman of the Mulgrave Shire Council who helped facilitate the land approval.

One of the worst golf clubs I’ve been too. The apparent ‘Members’ who play at the club constantly harass amateurs about being too slow despite almost hitting us twice and hitting across 2 lanes. After hitting the ball across 2 lanes the poor excuse for a ‘member’ came over to complain about our golf attire. This gentleman was clearly upset that a group of younger players were all shooting under par in comparison to him who had shanked his ball almost hitting 4 people. He then got the employee to tell us our attire was unacceptable 40 minutes into playing despite us all paying for 9 holes

Extremely upset at the way our group were treated today. Booked for 12:30pm and was told to be back by 4:30pm. We followed the rules and offered to let everyone pass us that wanted too. However on the last hole we were approached by a staff member and told someone rang to complain that we were holding them up. The staff member told us to hurry and move along, i was shocked.
We approached the staff member at the end to explain we never held anyone up and offered for everyone to pass, and that we finished an hour earlier than the time given. Instead of understanding, we just received a lecture on

Members are rude and complain about amateurs to get us off the course after we were playing with correct ettiquette and asking ones catching up to us if they would like to pass. We were on the last hole and the whole experience was ruined for us by being told to hurry up because someone behind us called to make a complaint. Which we dont understand because we offered to let everyone of them pass. Management said we could be there until 4:30. We were almost finished by 3.30 and I couldnt find my ball on the last hole. I was so upset with the way we were treated I no longer wanted to find my ball

Arrived at 12:30pm and paid for 9 holes, told to be finished by 4:30pm. We are a group of 5, little slow, let 1 group of 4 pass us, offered for another 2 to pass us, they said they're not in a hurry and let us play. On our last hole 50m from the pin, the lady working on Sunday 12th July 2020 came out saying we've had groups phone up saying you're slowing them down. This was at 3:15pm. Told her our thoughts, proceeded to explain rules the rules of golf to us. It was our first time here and we won't be going back. We will keep going up the hill to Mareeba. Not impressed...

I played with some friends about 3 weeks ago.
We are all new to golf and allowed a few groups to pass us so we wouldn't hold them up. We finished an hour earlier than the allocated time, but were still harassed by a rude staff member at the end saying we should have been done sooner.
The time spent playing was fun, but due to the staffs rude attitude I believe 1 star is too much.
Won't be returning here.

Below Par Service:
Course and buggies were well maintained, and the prices are reasonable. But the customer service left a lot to be desired.
As a slightly bigger group trying the course for the first time, we were running a little bit slower. As per the rules, we allowed two smaller groups to pass us. We didn't appear to hold them up in the slightest and we did out best to clear all 9 holes as fast as we could, an hour faster than we were expected to have returned by.
Halfway through the final hole, a staff member appeared in a golf cart and proceeded to advise us that we were slow and holding
