We acknowledge the original custodians of this land, the Biripi people on which we learn and work together and commit to build relationships for all Aboriginal people in our area. Our focus is to continue the holistic approach to education and relationships that past management and educators have valued.

To value the connectedness of mind, body and spirit as learning pathways in a peaceful caring environment. An environment with many opportunities for each child to use one hundred different ways to make meaning of their world.
Services
Suitably qualified Educators are appointed to each room each year. Our Rotation Policy ensures that each group of children are accompanied by a familiar Educators as they progress from room to room. All Educators work rotating shifts between 7.30am and 6.30pm. Each year staff rotate rooms to work with different age groups, according to our transition policies.
Hastings Preschool & Long Day Care Centre was built in 1986 as a not-for-profit centre that provides care and educational programs for children aged 0 to 6 years. Hastings Council, Department of Housing and the local preschool management committees formed a steering committee to build the centre and hand over to a parent management committee.
Our centre complies with the National Quality Standards, the Early Years Learning Framework and the services policies and procedures. We aspire to the values of Reggio Emilia based on the hundred languages of children and acknowledge children's learning and being in one hundred ways, one hundred thoughts and one hundred actions.
Ring Erin to make a special time to meet the room educators who will explain the wonders of our caring and sharing spaces with you. Once you formally enrol, we ask that you allow time to sit with an educator. These appointments are valuable for us to learn about your child, your family culture and all things you need us to know and remember.
The learning environment of Hastings Preschool is different from many other child care centres and preschools. We aspire to the Reggio Emilia educational experience where children are active protagonists of their own personal growth and learning; children are encouraged to explore their environment and express themselves through multiple pathways and 'all their languages' Reggio Children (2001).
