Wanderers Retreat at One Mile Beach, is set in 1.2 hectares of rainforest, just 2.5 hours from Sydney and 25 minutes from Newcastle Airport. You can also catch a Port Stephens bus and travel directly from Sydneys Central Railway Station and be dropped off right to our front door. We have the perfect location for a weekend away or a relaxing holiday escape for the busy lifestyle of today.
Wanderers Eco Retreat is set on 1.2 hectares of old growth melaleuca rainforest and gardens. We are only a 400 metre walk to One Mile Beach and positioned right in the heart of the Tomaree Peninsula and national park area. The Eco cottages have been built with a minimum impact on the surrounding environment.
This luxurious 4 bedroom house can accommodate up to 9 people. The Beach Spa House features a gas fired log fireplace and an outdoor spa, the perfect place, summer or winter, from which to explore the beautiful surrounds of Port Stephens. Your Bush Spa & Hot-Tub Cottage is equipped with both an outdoor Hot-tub, and for total privacy you can indulge in a luxury indoor double SPA bath.
This luxurious 4 bedroom house can accommodate up to 9 people and is the perfect place from which to explore the beautiful surrounds of Port Stephens. The 6-8 person outdoor spa, fully equipped kitchen complete with dishwasher, access to a verandah from most bedrooms, stylish lounge and dining areas with free internet access.
Your Bush Spa & Hot-Tub Cottage is equipped with an outdoor Hot-Tub positioned off your verandah to enjoy the rainforest setting. You can further indulge in the luxury private internal double Spa bath then cozy around the gas fired log fireplace in the winter months. Other features include air conditioning, and private use of Weber Family Q BBQ facilities.

Our family of four stayed for 10 nights and loved our stay at the eco cottage with hot tub. The peaceful native bush surrounding s and friendly possum visitors in the evenings kept all entertained. The owners were fabulous and accommodating. Great walking distance to beach. Would definitely return back for a holiday. We all felt recharged after our holiday

Last night we stayed in the tree top cabin, it was spacious, clean, and the sheets where amazing. We had our own possum that I hand feed on the deck while drinking the amazing port that was complimentary with our stay. When it was time to go I felt rested and relaxed I loved our night away we will be back very soon.

Everything about this place is amazing! What a beautiful experience, highly recommend for those parents wanting a romantic getaway ❤️ the owners and staff are amazing, they care about the environment around them, the possum visitors last night was epic! So bloody cute! Don’t get me start on the hot tub indoor and out! Wow! Love love love this place! Coming much more often more people need to know about this! Honestly the best get away I’ve had in my 29 years of life! Brand new mattress was the goods! Cleanest linen and the robes are so soft and smell amazing! Cant wait

Very quiet place surrounded by trees. A good 5 minute drive out of town, 10-15 min walk to the beach. If it's been raining forget it, the "beach track" (which you still have to cross a main road) becomes a quagmire. Cabin could use some upgrades for the price charged. Sleeps 9 but extra guests get charged extra per night (when there is 9 guests or less) for some strange reason.

Wow! Wanderers Retreat is such a beautiful oasis. My best friend and I took a weekend trip out to Port Stephens, and stayed here for two nights in one of the Treehouses. The room was beautiful, and it quickly became our cosy home away from home. We read books, drank wine and had a few special visits from Australian wildlife. We will definitely be back in the summer to do it all over again!

Pros: Cute basic cabin. Heater works great. Couches and bed average to good comfort wise. Hot tub was wonderful. Staff extremely helpful and polite. Close to great beaches,wale watching and excellent restaurants!
Cons: Sheets feel like cardboard. Kitchen wasn’t thoroughly cleaned,upon arrival. (Stove knobs dirty from previous guests cooking eggs?) Not much privacy at ALL around hot tub. Cabins close to each other. Check out time is 10am, however a maintenance man woke us up around 8am fiddling with the hot tub on the front porch.
