Page Steel recently purchased a Zeman Zeman SBA single rail robotic fabrication machine, which is capable of fabricating beams 1,100mm wide and 18,000mm long. 1500 tonnes of structural steel has been fabricated for the extension to the Austin Hospital carpark. The new levels are built on top of an existing concrete structure.
Page Steel chose to adopt bolted angle connections to improve on fabrication efficiency. All drafting was performed in house using Tekla Structures, and regular updates of the 3D model had been posted to Page Steel Fabrications web site for downloading by the client. The contract for the Monash Carpark level 3 and 4 was awarded to Page Steel Fabrications in 2015.
