Reid Early Childhood Centre (RECC) is a community based, not-for-profit long day care centre offering full-time and part-time care for children from 6 weeks to school age. We offer each child in our care a nurturing and safe environment where they can learn, develop, experiment, investigate, problem solve and build trusting relationships.
We are located at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) campus in the leafy suburb of Reid - close to both the city and Russell - and have been providing quality child care to the Canberra community since 1994. We understand there are many considerations families naturally contemplate when deciding on a child care option for their children.

Services
At Reid Early Childhood Centre, we recognise the importance of families in a child's life and aim to develop positive, constructive relationships between parents and educators. We place importance on settling both a child and their family into care; whether commencing at the centre for the first time or transitioning from one room to the next, our emphasis remains on developing a sense of belonging.
Our Nursery Room is a 'home away from home' for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 18 months. It is a special, cosy space maintained by our trained educators who are experienced and sensitive to the individual schedules and needs of infants. In the nursery, we cater to children's individual play, sleep and eating routines.
Our Tiny Toddler Room caters for children between the ages of 1.5 and 2.5 years. We focus on providing a stimulating environment for the children and assist in the development of basic self-help skills such as washing and drying hands, self feeding, putting hats on and assisting educators to pack up toys after play.
Our Junior Preschool room caters for children between the ages of 3 and 4 years of age. This is however, flexible and depends on the child's and/or family's needs and developmental capabilities. Highly trained educators provide a fun and stimulating learning environment which is aimed at enhancing all areas of development.

Our highly trained educators focus on providing stimulating learning experiences and environments where children will be challenged, engaged and encouraged to investigate and explore the world around them.

The people who work at the Center are amazing. I’ve been going to the Center since it opened years ago. We’re currently taking our grandson for swimming lessons and I’m thrilled with the swim support he gets and how great the girls are with him. It’s always clean and all thus far have been courteous, professional and great ambassadors for our community. Great staff. Stay safe all and a huge THANK YOU!

The staff are AMAZING, shoutouts to Amanda and Shawn at the check in desk (they were superb and so friendly), Michael is always awesome, Matt is always so helpful at the rock climbing wall and I’ll write the other few names in here once I remember!
I’m so looking forward to climbing again. The equipment is nice in the gym and we do love a good slide.
10/10 would recommend, especially when COVID restrictions ease 💯

I love enjoying the walking track and the swimming pool with my son. I look forward to gong to the gym and taking in a concert there too! My husband enjoys playing hockey at their awesome rink. The staff is great! They are accommodating and friendly. The entire complex is beautiful and a huge asset to our community.

The concert was wonderful. The layout is great and the people are very friendly, but the bleachers are built for small people. The seats are narrow and have very little leg room. Be prepared to get hit in the head when people behind you move, and if you're over 5'2, you'll be sitting with your legs braced against the seats in front of you.

Both of my children attend RECC and we are so happy there! My 2.5 year old son has attended for 2 years, he had made such great friendships with both his peers and educators. In particular he loves the huge yard, sandpit, play equipment and bikes! My 10 month old daughter also recently started in the nursery. She too is enjoying playing outside and all the sensory activities they do in the nursery. The educators are clearly passionate and organise a variety of experiences for the children, and will be starting yoga next week! The introduction of Story Park earlier this year has really helped with
