Services
I love our two mottos, "We help when life changes" and "We help families stay out of Court". That change comes in varying shapes and sizes. It could be the birth of a baby that prompts you to update your Will or the death of a loved one who didn't leave a Will or maybe you are planning an overseas trip.
Family breakdown, separation, divorce, child custody disputes and property settlement negotiations can cause an incredible amount of strain and can come at a huge toll both emotionally and financially. At Stanfords Solicitors and Mediators, we partner with you in planning an approach and mediate to resolve issues promptly, cost effectively and where possible, without litigation.
Collaborative Practice, or Collaborative Law as it is also known, is our favorite method of dispute resolution. This is where the parties and their lawyers form one team in order to reach a solution that is right for the family as a whole. Each party retains their lawyer and the legal advice and all of the other support that comes with a lawyer.
Why is it important to reach a formal agreement - living separately and parenting together?. Certainty is key to a happy and calm life. There is nothing more frustrating than not knowing what the arrangements will be for drop off or pick up. An agreement lets your children know that they are important enough to both of you to respect them by giving them a predictable routine when they can be sure that they will spend time with each of you.
Part of ending a relationship is the freedom to move on with your life and make your own decisions. In your new normal, you should be able to make financial decisions that suit you and your circumstances. The last thin you need is to be tied financially to your ex who's financial choices may impact you and your own credit history and borrowing capacity.

The most wonderful travel bookshop! Plus a small selection of other fiction and non fiction, but travel is what it's all about... From travel writing to guide books and maps, everything you need to either help you get away, or imagine yourself somewhere else while all the borders are closed... (The lines between countries, not the bookshop)

A must visit if you love travel, or culture. We may not be able to travel at the moment but you can sit and be transported away by the many travel books they stock or maps they sell. You can also buy a bespoke OS map of your house, or a vintage map. They stock maritime maps as well, and OS maps if you're planning a wall in the UK. They sometimes host authors and book signings, they had Michael Palin once which I was lucky enough to attend.

Such a cute store. Had the journals I was looking for. Little pricy but good quality so worth it!

Still the best place to browse a wide selection of guide and walking books if, like me, you realise that you are headed out to the Outer Hebrides next week with only the maps packed. Found four superb guides from a range of about ten. Why go anywhere else? Certainly better than taking a chance with Amazon.

Great bookstore for travel books, guides and other travel accessories. There’s a cute cafe and plenty of tables available for outdoor seating great in times like that when you want to be outdoors but also grab a coffee/tea and sit in a cafe.

Lovely specialist map shop with a small coffee shop too. Lots of various maps and guide books with some excellent gift ideas for both young and old. Currently no lift downstairs so not suitable for wheelchair users. Only just opened in the new location but already busy and welcoming.

Simply 'the' place for geographers, cartographers and explorers to go. The number of maps from around the world, as well as flags and geographic books, is hard to match.
It's lost a bit of the old charm from it's old site just down the road, but it is a lot easier to get around and less cramped. Quite simply, as geography nerd it is a dangerous place to go as it's hard to leave!

If you like maps, this is your place. If you like books, this is your place too. Great overall selection of books, but it has more maps than books.
The coffee shop is cozy; it offers a nice selection of coffee, tea and food; to enjoy while reading your book.

The coffee was okay but the staff should care about the cleanliness. The expresso is £ 1,75.
