Chris is a qualified charter operator with 15 years experience in the industry and has fished extensively in Port Phillip Bay, Bass Strait and Portland. His knowledge of these areas has been gained through hands-on experience by being out on the water almost every day of the year. Chris's fresh approach and experience make for a fishing trip long to be remembered.
At Gone Fishing Charters our Queenscliff fishing charters fish Port Phillip Bay and Bass Strait, targeting a variety of species like whiting, squid, snapper and shark, just to name a few. With such a variety of fish to target, this enables us to provide you with a different fishing experience each time.
Our Portland Tuna Charters meet and depart from the Portland Boat Ramp, Lee Breakwater Road, Portland VIC 3305. Gone Fishing Charters offers Portland fishing charters searching for the elusive Southern Blue Fin Tuna on Victoria's Continental shelf. From early May until July Victorian anglers can tangle with these high speed, hard fighting oceanic wanderers in the waters off Portland in the states far West.
Reels are for both left and right-handed anglers. All gear is maintained impeccably, allowing you to tackle the hardest of fighting fish knowing your gear will not let you down. For medium gear whilst fishing for snapper and gummy shark we use Shimano Saragosa 6000's and 10,000's on Tipan rods. For heavy tackle fishing (targeting tuna, king fish and shark) we supply Shimano Tiagra 16's, 30's and 50's coupled on game rods.
As a requirement of the Victorian government all anglers, including clients on fishing charter vessels, are required to obtain a Recreational Fishing Licence prior to their charter. A licence can be purchased from more than 950 retail businesses throughout Victoria including Kmart, Myer, Ray's Outdoors and most retail fishing tackle stores.

Thoroughly enjoyed the day with Gone Fishing Charters. The crew were friendly, attentive and professional. The knowledge they shared was invaluable. Nothing was too much trouble resulting in an exceptional fishing experience. Have been on other charters over the years but this one was most impressive. Would highly recommend Gone Fishing Charters if you want a throughly great day with a team of expert fishing professionals.

Another fabulous day out with Captain Chris and his amazing boat Poseidon - Gone Fishing Charters Queenscliff. Everything was supplied - gear was top notch and BBQ on board went down a treat. The boat is spotless and did not disappoint with some lovely catches of Snapper, Nanogui and squid. Third time on board and will be back.

Captain Dan the man took good care of us.
Preparing bait, dehook fish, rebait , etc did all the hard work patiently for hours without a single sign of complain. (Note we caught 70-80 wrasses and perches)
Will come back and nominate Dan the man as Captain in the future 1000%.
Chris was very passionate and helpful with trip arrangements and bookings as well.
