Who would have thought a Hungarian would revolutionise the Great Aussie Meat Pie? Back in 1968, this is exactly what Vili did when he began creating the first Vili's Pies in a small Adelaide bakery. After many long hours pouring over recipes and experimentation, he created the perfect Aussie Pie with real authentic lean beef and the divine flaky pastry it is now famous for.
Vili's Family Bakery has baked authentic pies, pasties and many mouth-watering sweets for distribution across Australia and globally to 24 countries in Asia, Europe and the Pacific. Our catering platters for events around Adelaide suit any function, big or small, corporate functions or birthdays. Choose from sweet and savoury, meat, vegan and vegetarian.

Services
Come in for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or even a midnight snack. We are open 24x7. On your way home and nothing for dinner? Pop in and choose from our large menu - schnitzels, Hungarian goulash, stroganoff, mixed grill and much more! Go where the locals go to enjoy our home made and heart warming food.
Vili's Pie Carts are ideal for large scale events where you need to serve many people with minimal fuss. Available in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide with minimum order requirements. An interesting fact. The pie carts were used at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games for the majority of the sporting events.
Vili's products can be found in many different stores throughout Australia from the local deli to the major supermarkets. Foodland SA | The Mighty South Aussies - Foodland Banners includes Chapley's, Romeo's, and all independent Foodland supermarkets - Store Locator. Vili's Bakery has expanded beyond Australia and has supplied quality bakery products world wide to 24 countries in Asia, Europe, and the Pacific.
The Vili's story of success from humble beginnings to an iconic South Australian business is one that tugs on the heart strings. Vili's father arrived in Adelaide in 1956, escaping the Hungarian revolution, all his belongings in one old suitcase tied together with a belt. Survival was paramount, education was unnecessary.

This place has the best food for comfort, I order them on uber eats all the time and because I have an inconsistent sleep schedule I really appreciate them being open 24/7! My favourite things to get from there lately has been the beesting donut, chips and gravy (the gravy is so good) and the classic pasty. Highly recommend!

Food is great but taking orders is their weak point not only have they neglected on multiple occasions to make or even take down the second meal for either me or my partner they then don't know what's going on or don't know who's taken the order.
Also they seem to think that sweeping the floors whilst people are eating is an ok thing to do. And this was at a time where the place was almost empty.

Villi was the guy who reinvented meat pies here in Australia replacing dull, lifeless pies containing mostly gravy and a little bit of mine with his own brand of pie filled with chunks of steak and chicken and cooked in his own blends of spices.
As the bakery became more popular the Cafe was built both as a cafeteria for his own staff and also to serve the general public.
The result is a venue that's open 24/7 and makes you feel great to be South Australian. In the past I've taken guests there from out of town to enjoy a pie floater Also a good place to stop in with the family for a casual evening

It's been many years since I stopped by last and I forgot how big the serves were🙂
Pork schnitzel with chips and gravy.
Note I've had a gastric bypass so I can't eat a meal like this in one shot🤣 the few chips I had were amazing and the gravy takes me back to the days when I was a bouncer in the city.
Highly recommend stopping by on your way home from a big night.
The lady that served me was so nice and friendly and brought it out to me😊

A 24/7 operation that's no frills and smooth. Their special creations are worth going to try/see and I believe their dessert section in general is underrated versus trendy contemporaries. Most people are familiar with their standard menu of schnitzel and pies and yes, this is solid, but check out the specials like the burger donut and be pleasantly surprised.
I would go for dessert but found the meals a bit on the small side for the price. Fresh and well cooked schnitzel and salad, just.... lacked something.
The cream filled chocolate donut and vili dog are classics.... but....for the third time

Had lunch here at Café de Vili's first time and... can't believe I had never heard let alone been to this South Australian icon. A no-frills, down-to-earth, but welcoming ambience with friendly staff. Superb variety of quite reasonably priced classic Vili's items and my food was fresh and really nice. Would come again!
