At Playing for Change we use a range of approaches involving strengthening the parent and child relationship to support the child as well as traditional skills based work and optimising sensory processing.
Services
The name 'Playing for Change' was inspired by the work of Mandy Seyfang's UniSA student OT clinic in 1998, of the same name and which used a strongly narrative therapy approach to children's needs. The clinic's philosophy was one of using play and playful activity to assist children to overcome challenges and to assist their families to develop a positive new story about their child as capable.
At Playing for Change we draw on a range of therapeutic approaches including traditional skills based work as well as sensory processing, the Marte Meo Approach and Circle of Security. We are committed to providing a responsive, accountable and stable OT service to our clients. Our services are provided across a range of environments - two well equipped clinic spaces, homes, schools, kindergartens and care settings.
We are focussed on developing your child's potential in their everyday environment and understand sometimes a child has particular issues or challenges in certain environments. Playing for Change OT therefore offer occasional out of clinic visits to educational and care settings, however these are time limited and focused on specific concerns a child may be facing.
