Services
Podiatrists are foot health experts who are university-trained to prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs. Often, these conditions stem from other underlying health issues such as diabetes, stress fractures and arthritis (Australian Podiatry Association, 2019).
General podiatry refers to diagnosis and treatment of common foot problems to the skin and nails. Thickened nails, ingrown nails (Including Nail Surgery and Nail Brace), infections to the toenails and painful toenails. Persistent in-growing nails are remarkably common at all ages of life. This may be from recurrent trauma to the nail, the shape of the nail or by incorrect cutting techniques.
One of the biggest frustrations as you get older is the increasing lack of flexibility, and the increasing difficulty in looking after your feet in particular. Arthritis commonly attacks joints in the hands, knees, and hips, but it can occur in any part of the body where joints exist - including the toes.
Diabetes is one of the fastest growing diseases in Australia and is rapidly reaching epedemic proportions. Did you know that 60-70% of those with diabetes will develop peripheral neuropathy, or lose sensation in their feet. Ryan James Podiatry has devised an evidence based screening tool to assess your risk of diabetic foot complications comprised of vascular assessment, neurological assessment and recording of deformity and pressure areas.
We understand that a sports specific approach is needed to assessing, treating and preventing injury. Whether your sport involves high impact pivoting and turning (Soccer, football, netball, basketball, tennis) or your sport involves repetitive stress (distance running, triathlon), we will customise a treatment plan to suit your specific sport and training regime.
