Join us for Lunch or Dinner in the Toolshed bar or in the Outpost Restaurant by booking only. Originally a dairy farm built in the early 1900's, The Outpost Retreat is set on 110 acres. The Old Farm house, with so much history, was resurected into an award winning Restaurant and the old Toolshed/chookhouse became what we know today as The Toolshed Pub.

Stay one night, a weekend or a week. Relax in one of 4 cabins over looking the Latrobe River. Enjoy a drink on your balcony while taking in the peaceful surroundings, parrots and wildlife. Greek Marinated Lamb or Tasmanian Salmon with citrus sauce or Asian Spiced Pork Belly with Apple Mustard sauce.

Cabins Report

The Outpost Retreat has 4 fully self contained cabins located in a beautiful setting looking towards the Latrobe River. Each cabin can accommodate 5 people. They are all 1 bedroom and consist of a QS and Single bed in the bedroom, and a single and rollout bed in the lounge. There is a gas cook top and microwave, small fridge, reverse cycle air conditioning/heating and separate shower and toilet.

Weddings Report

The Outpost is a great venue for a wedding. Get married in the rustic gardens and enjoy a delicious meal while celebrating with your guests as a married couple. We have several options to choose from. 3 course of Entree Main and Dessert or 2 course of Entree and Main and enjoy your wedding cake as dessert.

The best atmosphere,set in a great little town,been a few times now,and will be back,the best meals,staff friendly,long wait for lunch,but that only coz of Easter,normally good waiting times,beats the pub as we only went there once 🍻

Stopped here for lunch and wasn't disappointed. The meals were a great size and were very tasty. The beer and drinks were nice and cold and service friendly. Dogs are welcome when outside seated. Make sure you drop in...

Just two hours out of Melbourne CBD, so quiet and tranquil. Lots of great short walk to do, galleries, coffee shops two great pubs to enjoy larger meals and an aray of other great eateries

Beautiful setting. Comfortable and very clean cabins.
Toolshed Bistro was welcoming and cozy on a cold day. Meals exceeded our expectations. We'll be back.

Been coming here for 5 years, it's a great place to visit. Situation right on La Trobe River. We stay in the cabins. They are spacious with plenty of beds and a great balcony with views, plus air conditioning. We enjoy sitting outside watching the cows walk past and listening to the abundant bird life. The Tool Shed restaurant has great chicken parmas. With GF and vegetarian options too. Highly recommend this place.

Unfortunately my daughter chose the Out Post for her 24th birthday lunch. The setting is stunning. The meals are appalling. I could do much better at home with a tin of spaghetti. Such a shame as our family has been coming here for years. Loved it as a restaurant, sucks as a bistro. 😣
