Xiang Hair first opened its doors in 1989 in a small suburban salon in Melbourne's west. With only two staff members and one big vision, founder Tom Donato set about building a strong creative force in Australian hairdressing. Already established as one of Australia's leading salons, Xiang Hair now boasts three hair salons and two Razorsmiths Barber Shops across Melbourne.

The award-winning Xiang Hair teams at CBD, Essendon and Greensborough specialise in all areas of hair colour work, from permanent and semi-permanent tinting to specialised services including colour correction and balayage. All hair colour services at our CBD, Essendon and Greensborough salons start with an indepth one on one consultation to determine your colour journey and the time and effort which is required.
At all Xiang salons, our hair cutting and styling services start with an indepth one on one consultation and are finished with one of our trademark blow dries. We work only with the most professional products including L'Oreal Professionnel, Kevin Murphy and Kerastase. Our philosophy at Xiang Hair is an uncompromising standard of excellence, with a natural approach to haircare.

Did not get what i asked for i asked for curtain bangs the lady that cut my hair curled my hair after the service saying id see them after washing but the cut was definitely nothing like the picture i showed . Disappointed i went there thinking i would get what i wanted. Wouldn’t get a cut here again.

I’ve always been nervous of going to a salon and entering Xiang was the most positive experience I’ve ever had with a hairdresser. I saw Karlie who was fabulous but every person I had an interaction with was beautiful. I’ve never been happier with a haircut in my life. Xiang is the only place i will ever go now, couldn’t recommend it enough.

I am extremely disappointed with the service I got here. Where do I begin with this place. From the moment I walked in, I had consistent dirty looks, the lady who was styling my hair was very short with me, giving one word answers. When I did talk to her she would act like she didn’t hear me and then roll her eyes when she finally responded. This is Australia, everyone in this country deserves to be treated equally!

I went from black to red while I was on holiday in NYC, and needed a good colourist to keep it up (after the fortune I spent I didn't want it ruined first regrowth touch up!) when I got back to Melbourne.
I had a previous regular hairdresser, but see moved out of easy public transport access from where I lived, as well as hiring a not overly competent apprentice.
Anyway, back to Xiang Hair. A friend had been coming here for years, so suggested I give it a go (& she always had amazing hair).
I made an appointment with Tom and couldn't be happier!
I've now been 4-5 times
