Blackwood Country Gates owner and timber craftsman Ian Lamshed has a passion for making handcrafted gates including wooden gates, farm gates, Tudor gates and country gates. Since founding the company at his Bellarine Peninsula home, he's immersed himself in the work he loves, creating gates out of material that inspires him.

It's all about making the right choices from the start - wood selection, style and size - and then using experience and skill to ensure every cut is precise, every joint is strong and every finish is just right.
At Blackwood Country Gates we know that our products need effective gate hardware including gate latches and hinges. Without a gate hinge, or a gudgeon and pintle, a gate simply will not swing. And without a latch, it will not close securely. We provide our customers with all the accessories that their gate needs and, because we make them ourselves from our home on Victoria's Bellarine Peninsula, we know they're strong and tough.
As a result, it is important they are attractive, functional and long-lasting. Our gates are crafted to the highest quality and our team of experienced professionals have a refined eye for craftsmanship, design and of course beautiful gates. The pad bolt is comprised of a 6mm steel plate carrier measuring 210mm x 65mm and 50mm returns.
We make a wide range of wooden gates including farm gates, Tudor gates, driveway gates and garden gates. We also make steel gates. We like to use kiln-dried Australian hardwood for gates in paddocks because you don't have to seal it, it's light, durable, not prone to rotting and will not warp. They are perfect for country gates that are exposed to tough conditions.
