Maldon's Eaglehawk Motel
Maldon's Eaglehawk Motel is located in the heart of Central Victoria's Goldfields and is in easy reach of other significant centres. Our motel is a short walk to the Maldon's historic Railway Station, from which Victorian Goldfields Railway run their steam trains twice a week to and from Castlemaine; and the centre of Maldon, Australia's First (and only) Notable Town.

Maldon has the most intact heritage streetscape of any goldfield town in Victoria. Maldon is therefore the perfect destination to visit or stay a few days. Guests enjoy a quiet and relaxed stay with 11 rooms to choose from - each with a front door opening onto a verandah and pathway that leads into our peaceful gardens with pool and undercover BBQ facilities.
Services
Maldon's Eaglehawk Motel is a family owned and run business. We seek to create an environment of rest and recreation in peaceful gardens and relaxing amenities that provide a uniquely differentiated experience capitalising on personal service, the historical nature of Maldon and the motel's unique location in one of the most attractive parts of Central Victoria.
We have several room configurations: 3 have queen beds, 4 have double beds, 2 are twin singles, 1 has a double bed and a single bed and our family suite has a double bed and a separate room with two single beds (a third can be added if wanted). Each of the twin single rooms can interconnect with double rooms to create a family suite accommodating 4 persons.
Maldon's Eaglehawk Motel is conveniently located on the northern side of Maldon just 10 minutes from the Calder Hwy (via Fogarty's Gap Road). We are only a minute (by car) away from Maldon's historic railway station and CBD. Make your way to and take the Calder Highway (M79) heading in the direction of Bendigo until you reach the Fogarty's Gap Road exit (approximately 90 minutes).
Visiting Maldon is like visiting history heaven. Learn what life was like as you explore some of the mines, diggings and Museums. When you visit the State Battery and understand the gold extraction process you will wonder at how people could have worked in such a dirty, damp, noisy and toxic environment.
It will be at the same great venue, the Maldon Racecourse Reserve on the corner of the Maldon-Bendigo Rd and Lewis Rd, about 3kms out of Maldon. Last years Swap Meet saw over 2,500 people and 120 stalls turn up to our second ever event. This is Australia's oldest hill climb event (since 1929) for pre 1972 cars and bikes.

Shhh! Don't tell everyone about this quiet hidden gem of a stay! Well appointed rooms, pool, and BBQ.
Close to town, kangaroos out and about at dusk.

This is way better than two stars. It has EVERYTHING you need in a motel. Delightful outlook onto a rose filled courtyard with your own terrace, immaculate ensuite bathroom and all Facilities in a delightful vintage-era decor bedroom. Perfect for a short or a long stay.

What an exquisite little motel. We were absolutely thrilled when we arrived to see that it was exactly like the photos on the website. True old fashioned charm is the term we used to describe it. A real hidden gem that was perfect for a catch up with friends. Highly recommend. 😊😊😊

Clean tidy and covid safe. The rooms have been designed in the early 1900's era and are very good. Park your car at the back of the room then once you have settled in open what looks like the back door but is actually the front door. Walk out into a very tranquil setting with a table and chairs sit down and enjoy the quiet and tranquil setting looking at plants, roses and trees with a gravel walkway and enjoy.

We were attending a wedding at the next door Eaglehawk Hotel so the motel was perfect for that but it exceeded expectations. Comfortable rooms and a nice outlook looking onto the central garden

A gem in our favourite little Victorian town... excellent value, service, rooms and facilities! Set in lush, tranquil gardens and only a short stroll to the town centre. We will definitely stay again and recommend to all friends and family.

A very enjoyable stay, the motel is old style, yet in fantastic condition, which we loved. But what made our visit more enjoyable was the hospitable nature and really friend approach from the owners Chris and Deborah. They make this motel. Loved it, will be back for sure and highly recommend it for all who come to the area..
