In 1933 Herbert Ryan along with his brother, Gus, and Herb's son, Alan, set up R&R with the help of an old friend, Leo Robins, hence the name R&R. The first garments were cleaned and pressed in the shop window on the corner of Montague and Auburn Street's in Goulburn. To clean a suit cost four and sixpence.

First time using this dry cleaners and I won't be returning. I arrived 5min before close to pick up 2 items I had prepaid for. The man behind the counter was completing end of day paperwork. Upon seeing me enter the store, he started huffing and puffing, shaking his head. He was looking at me like I'd dumped cow manure on the floor. He said "you're going to have to wait" and I said OK. 10 seconds later he repeats this and I again say OK. I offer to wait outside the shop. He says no. He explains that he won't get to leave at 6pm now, apparently because I entered the store. I asked "am I too late
