About 70 interested people attended, if I remember, all bringing our fears, grief and guilt with us but hoping for some relief at last. Dr Hearn stood up, some of us had not met him before; he stood tall and straight and spoke clearly and directly with a statement I will never forget. I want you all to know that there is nothing you have done, or haven't done or should have done, that would have made any difference to your sick relative.
Franco brings significant lived experience of being a carer for a person with a mental health illness and with dementia and has been involved with HelpingMinds since first joining and then running a share and care peer support group in 1996. In a time when the organisation was much smaller, Franco volunteered his time and skills including with the management of the purchase and refurbishment of the HelpingMinds head office building.
Any person who accesses a HelpingMinds' service, their family members, carers or other representative can raise a concern, comment or complaint about the service/s or support/s they receive. I can't thank HelpingMinds enough. Life has thrown our family a curve ball and having someone who understands the game is invaluable. HelpingMinds is assisting us to understand the new rules of the game. A game we did not sign up for but nether the less a game we will participate in until the very end whatever the outcome. I would and I do recommend the agency to anyone who needs the help of learning the rules of the same game we were thrown into. Thank you HelpingMinds Mandurah.

I used ARAFMI in 1993 When I discovered it...after a year of HARD YAKA...trying on my own to understand and discover what one of my sons had, and it was his second psychosis and a year later...!
Was it "DRUG INDUCED PSYCHOSIS" after having used Pot and Alcohol,
may be together...
If so, I was told it could be a "one off event"...or BIPOLAR ? and he would be able to work with breaks...or Schizophrenic and he was never going to come good and work ...Only TIME WOULD TELL I was told...
yes that was the time when drugs were not as helpful as they are now..Drugs have changed since. and help as well
