For customers looking for something to eat, make sure you dine in our House of Schnitzel restaurant. With a choice of a large variety of toppings for your schnitzel, everyone's tastes are covered. We also have a main menu and our chef's suggestions are changed daily, offering a selection of dishes from steaks to seafood, pasta and vegetarian options.

Nestled in the South-East corner of South Australia, The Federal Hotel Motel offers guests a chance to see all that Mount Gambier has to offer without breaking the bank. We offer 13 comfortable and modern accommodation rooms, 10 with en suite bathrooms, and 3 with access to shared bathroom facilities.

We strive to be at the heart of our local community by providing a place for friends to meet, for families to relax and to host local functions and events. We are the unofficial 'clubhouse' for a number of local sporting teams - a place to re-convene after matches, sell raffle tickets, celebrate victories and commiserate losses.

Good and affordable place to stay. Close to all amenities. All necessary things provided. It will be good to have a microwave. It's was bit too open for any stranger to enter the rooms alleyway. The morning breakfast was not served on the day we wanted to eat. Bit disappointed. We were given discount coupons for the dining but can not use it as well.

It was the first time for me to visit Mt Gambier and I stayed in this hotel. The staff were very helpful and kind. The young boy Connor was very good at his job as a receptionist and bistro waiter. I loved the sweet wine recommended by the bar staff, and they helped me to find a taxi to airport.
Very positive and lovely country vibes.

We came in for lunch, the lady behind the bar, who also brought out the meals was fantastic, there was a slight error with a meal,,no problem, smiles all round, great atmosphere, will definitely return as the food was brilliant. 👍

Stayed 2 nights here. The rooms were on the smaller side but clean and the beds were comfortable to sleep on and the house of schnitzel attached to the hotel has great food and atmosphere overall very happy with my experience here 10/10 would have a return visit

Had a wonderful experience at the Federal Hotel for lunch today. Wonderful service from Amy and staff working. Fast service and good meals. We had a porterhouse steak and beef schnitzel cooked perfectly. Will be definitely be going back

Absolutely loved this place, meals were perfect, never seen a place with so many schnitzel toppings, they have about 18, reasonably priced aswell. If ever back here again, definitely coming back for a meal. Contact free ordering here aswell, button on table, tap phone, order and pay.

All staff where very friendly. Though it was our first time there we felt like we were catching up with old friends. Particular shout out to Angie who was a pleasure.

Live in 5 countries, visited 32 countries and definitely the best schnitzel ever. Two days here in a row for the same plate. 😍😍😍
I came on a Wednesday and I thought it was a really good Schnitzel then, I came back on a Thursday and mama mia blessed the chef on shift!!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Stayed one night and nothing negative to say besides the bathroom and the corridor. There are no heat lamps and it’s winter, the sink has seperate hot and cold faucets which makes no sense when trying to get lukewarm water. The corridor is drained with air cond water and its slippery.
Definitely at the price for what you get. Paid $99 for a family room. Ideal location and will come back again.

Really nice lunch meal. Server/barman was really nice and polite, no complaints at all. Meals were delicious and decently sized. The selection of schnitzels toppings was very hard to choose from but pictured are the onion master and nacho, nacho man 😊
