A ducted air conditioning system, as the name suggests, works by distributing conditioned air throughout your home through a series of flexible ducts/tubes, discharged out of air outlets either installed on your ceiling or walls. The internal fan coil unit, typically called an indoor unit, is installed inside your roof cavity.

There are 2 major contrasts between a ducted air conditioning system and a high-wall split air conditioning system. The first, and most distinguishing difference is that a split system is ductless. The fan coil unit pushes air directly through the coil and out into your room.
