Body Mass Index (BMI) is measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. BMI does not differentiate between body fat and muscle mass. Therefore, body builders and people who have a lot of muscle bulk will have a high BMI but are not overweight or obese. A BMI of 30-35 is considered Class I (low-risk) obese.
Obesity contributes to a range of medical problems, including hypertension, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnoea, infertility, depression and osteoarthritis. When you are battling Obesity you can often pick up many health issues and there are various surgical options that may help. When adrenal glands produce too much or too little hormones they may cause adrenal diseases.
Adrenal glands are two small organs located above your kidneys and they are responsible for releasing different hormones. When they produce too much or too little of these hormones they may cause adrenal diseases. The adrenal glands are also known as endocrine glands.
The hormones cortisol, aldosterone, adrenaline, epinephrine, and norepinephrine - and a small fraction of the body's sex hormones (estrogen and androgens), are produced by the adrenal glands.Adrenal diseases or diseases of the adrenal gland are relatively rare. The most common reason that a patient may need to have surgery is due to excess hormones produced by benign (non-cancerous) tumours located within the adrenal glands.

Inguinal hernias: there is a weak area in the groin and often the abdominal contents can bulge out. They are often painful and need to be fixed surgically. Sometimes they can be fixed with keyhole surgery. Sedentary people and obese people are more likely to get a hernia. A hernia can occur in both men and women when a large strain is put on the intestinal wall, such as when lifting a heavy object.
With roughly 60% of our Australian population being overweight, obesity is a worldwide and an Australian epidemic. Sleeve gastrectomy is a procedure for weight loss that involves stapling off and completely removing a portion of the stomach. Gastric Bypass Surgery makes the stomach smaller and reroutes the intestines, to restrict the amount of food and to reduce hunger.

I've had my surgery on 12 Nov 2021 and have not regret it since day 1. I had minimal pain, no vomiting, nausea or reflux. I've been a diabetic for about 9 years. After surgery I'm off Insulin, Metformin, Trulicuty and Trajenta. My sugar blood glucose are at normal levels between 5-6 every morning. I feel fantastic. Thank you Dr Armstrong, you did a fantastic job.

I’m happy I chose to go with Advance Surgical and Dr Jon Armstrong. After reading positive reviews, I booked a consultation and I felt confident in my choice, as Jon immediately put me at ease and provided clear and easy to understand information on what to expect. The dieticians are friendly, supportive and helpful and the reception team are extremely efficient. Highly recommend

I absolutely appreciate every effort the staff and the surgeon have done to make my surgery so successful. Arranging FaceTime interviews because I was in the country. Answering all my questions promptly. Sorting anything out that needed sorting. 1 week post op and could not be happier. Every nurse at St. John of God raved about Jon and how fantastic he is and what a great surgeon. Coming from nurses that is saying something. Thank you Jon and staff for you caring compassionate treatment.

After visiting 6 surgeons in Perth, Advanced Surgical was the standout.
The consulting rooms are a calm personal environment, with friendly administration staff, providing a high level of customer service.
Mr Jon Armstrong defines the true meaning for patient centered care!!
I even received a personal phone call from Jon 3 days before my surgery, just to check-in.
Furthermore, Jon is extremely professional, caring, and it was a pleasure to discover a practice that actually focuses on complete metabolic health.
At my 7 day post op appointment, I personally thanked Jon for the tool that he had

I was referred to Dr Armstrong by my colleague who had previously done a surgery with him. My colleague was very satisfied with the outcome of his surgery.
I also had my surgery done with Dr Armstrong recently and I too, am very pleased with the outcome.
Dr Armstrong and the ladies at the reception desk are very friendly, professional and welfare of the patients are their priority. They entire process (consultation as well as the surgery) went excellent. My recovery has also been fast.
Highly recommend Dr Armstrong! Thanks kindly

The first impression experienced was from the very friendly and efficient staff at the reception for my first appointment. From the first appointment with Dr Jon Armstrong to pre surgery Jon provides a very personal, relaxed and informative approach. The surgery team including Dr Twain Russell, the anaesthetist, were very professional and their bed side manner was very relaxing with a bit of humour thrown in. Jon saw me after the operation and the next morning in the hospital. Post op appointment at Dr Armstrong's room he explained the pathology results and offered any follow up appointments if
