Services
Tooth decay and gum disease - teeth which are very close together can be harder to clean properly. A build-up of plaque can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Injury to the gum - if a tooth doesn't meet with its partner on the opposite jaw properly, it may dig into the gum and cause damage. Self-confidence - teeth problems can make people feel embarrassed and they may not feel comfortable to smile.
We recommend early examination of the teeth and jaws in younger children (ages 7-12 years). This allows us to detect and evaluate problems and plan the best timing for treatment for the young individual. In some young patients with specific jaw, growth or bite problems, early treatment may prevent orthodontic problems from developing or worsening.
Between the ages of 11 and 15 is the most common time for orthodontic treatment and for good reasons. By 12, most, if not all, of the permanent teeth have erupted and are in place. We encourage all teenagers to see our orthodontic team. Detection of crooked teeth, spacing and over or under bites can easily be identified.
