Services
Women's Legal Service Victoria is a not for profit organisation which has been providing free legal services to women since 1982. We work with and for women experiencing particular disadvantage to address legal issues arising from relationship breakdown or violence. We are funded by the Indigenous Justice and Legal Assistance Division, Attorney General's Department, Canberra and Victoria Legal Aid.
In 1981 a public meeting was held in Melbourne to discuss how to make the law and legal system recognise women and their needs. Six months later Women's Legal Resource Group (WLRG) was formed. It was located in Women's Liberation House and was staffed by volunteers. The service provided free telephone advice and a referral service.

WLSV has exemption #A439 from provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 1995 to employ females only.
Free lawyers are available to assist with Family Violence Intervention Order (FVIO) cases at most Magistrates' courts across Victoria. We provide this service at Melbourne Magistrates' Court. I would like to say something about Women’s Legal Service but at this stage I can’t.
I have been calling this Legal Servise since September 2017, and so far I have been unsuccessful.
I started to keep count of the phone calls to the free legal advice line after first week.
So far including today I have made to contact them 144 times. Each call at 30c and few on pre- paid Mobile
(very costly).
Why this organisation is allowing call to get true to their line to be told they can’t answer the call.
Busy system would be preferred and cost free.
How much money do we need to spend on phone
