Andrew Douglas prepared the Bicycle Brisbane Plan in the early 1990s. This document and the commitment of key staff within Brisbane City Council and the Department of Main Roads substantially enhanced the perception of cycling as a serious transport mode. Following this, Andrew prepared the Pine Rivers Bikeway Plan and Network, and was involved in ten year updates to both plans.
Andrew Douglas has a practical and pragmatic approach to transport modelling. His understanding of transport model development coupled with his extensive knowledge of user behaviour and the transport systems and land use characteristics in Queensland, northern New South Wales, and the Northern Territory allow him to provide insights that aid the planning and design of individual projects, as well as provide a comprehensive review function.
The work of a good transport engineer should barely be noticed, but it should strongly contribute to an overall positive experience for end users. When working on commercial developments, one of our key objectives is to assist in maximising development yield, safety, and functionality, all while minimising construction and operating costs.
Andrew Douglas is an experienced Expert Witness who has assisted the Planning and Environment Courts in Queensland and New South Wales, and the Land Court and Mining Court in Queensland. We take seriously our primary obligation to the Courts and where possible, we seek to suggest win-win outcomes that could help settle disputes.
