Carbon Fibre is a thermoset material used when performance characteristics of traditional thermosets don't meet weight or stiffness requirements. Characterized by its doughy texture, Bulk Moulding Compound (BMC) consists of polyester resin, glass fibre and various mineral Fillers. SMC is a high strength glass reinforced thermoset moulding material which is normally a compression moulded.

Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) is a vacuum assisted closed moulding process. Resin Transfer Moulding or commonly known as RTM has excellent resin to glass ratio and excellent strength to weight ratios. LGFC materials are typically used where high strength is required in combination with toughness and impact performance.
Services
At Composite Materials Engineering, we pride ourselves on being the leaders in composite materials with the most up to date technology in materials and manufacturing processes to offer our customers a competitive advantage in their industry. At CME we engineer, manufacture and process our own raw materials unique to the customer's requirements.
Compression moulding normally uses a hydraulic press in which a moulding tool is fixed to top and bottom platens of the press. Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) is a vacuum assisted closed moulding process. Resin Transfer Moulding or commonly known as RTM has excellent resin to glass ratio and excellent strength to weight ratios.
Compression moulding normally uses a hydraulic press in which a moulding tool is fixed to top and bottom platens of the press. The moulding tool consists of a top cavity and bottom cavity, designed to produce the part to be manufactured and heated to the required moulding temperature.

Once the materials of choice are placed into the open mould, the press closes to apply an agreed pressure designed to force the material to flow within the cavities of the mould. The moulding cycle continues to maintain heat and pressure until the polymer has cured and the part moulded. Once moulded it is removed from the tool and trimmed to provide a finished part.
Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) is a process used when dimensions are critical and need to be controlled in a tolerance. This is achieved by the closed moulding technique and material control in the mould. Tools are critical to achieving a quality part, we will design, engineer and then build you tools onsite to suit the RTM process and meet the required specification.
Quality assurance and R&D are the integral parts of our business. We have an experts' on-hand to carry out all the material formulations and customised product development. Alliances between our engineering team, independent scientific and industrial research organisations and academic institutions such as Australia's top universities, provide the backbone of our industry-driven developments.
