Services
We are immediately committed to rebuilding the lodge, and to taking a leading role in whatever ways we can to help rebuild the tourism industry on Kangaroo Island. Meanwhile, the Southern Ocean Lodge site has been cleared in preparation for its next incarnation, 'SOL 2.0'! We are working with architect Max Pritchard who designed the original for the future design.
Australia's third largest island, Kangaroo Island sits a mere 15km from the shores of South Australia on the mainland. Spanning 155km in length by 55km in width, and covering some 4,500 sq km, Kangaroo Island offers the best of the mainland on a smaller scale. Boasting twenty-one national and conservation parks, Kangaroo Island has established itself as a premiere destination for nature lovers.
Globally celebrated and multi-award winning, Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island is Australia's most acclaimed wilderness lodge. Sensitively designed to blend seamlessly with the wildly beautiful landscape, Southern Ocean Lodge appears to float along its secluded clifftop setting. The Baillie Lodges experience embraces the luxury of travel.
Twenty-one luxury suites cantilever along the curve of limestone cliffs, each with open views of the Southern Ocean and undulating coastal wilderness. Signature design elements such as sandblasted limestone floors and recycled spotted gum feature walls, as well as contemporary custom furnishings and works commissioned from Kangaroo Island artists offer private house seats for the natural theatre of this dramatic landscape.
Dining at Southern Ocean Lodge is an exclusively local affair, with a bounty of premium ingredients for the kitchen's dynamic, produce-driven menus pairing with premium South Australian wines to create a real taste of Kangaroo Island.
Driven by a commitment to provide a real 'sense of place' for guests, the Baillie Lodges' Culinary Philosophy is to source local produce for its daily changing menu and is essential to the dining experience at Southern Ocean Lodge.Breakfast is a relaxed affair in the restaurant, guests take a table along the windows and witness the morning unfold along the sweep of coast stretching as far as the eye can see.

Hi from everyones' review im pretty sure that SOL is absolutely a spectacular place to stay. I am planning to spend 1 or 2 nights there. But im confused with the rate.
I want to book flinders suit for 1 night. But it is saying i hv to stay minimum 2 nights. So how much is the rate for 1 night for 2adults and 2 night for 2 adults... also from the website i cannot see a booking option . So do i hv to contact SOL staff for booking. Thanks in advance.

Took my parents there and we had an amazing time. The lodge was amazing and the food was incredible. Fine dining every meal, every day and the only problem is deciding what option to eat. The guides were a stand out, their knowledge and enthusiasm really elevated the already amazing wonders around Kangaroo Island.

Absolutely spectacular location. The hotel itself is amazing and the lobby with the sweeping panorama windows just takes you breath away.
The tours organized by the hotel are excellent as well. We especially loved the night tour so much so that we went on it twice.
The one weak point for us was the restaurant. We had dietary restrictions (no gluten) which the restaurant was fully aware of, yet every day they would bing us regular bread and etc. We were there a few days and the waiters were mostly the same so it was baffling how they could not remember a simple thing like that. Spectacular view from any angle on the property. Definitely one of the most beautiful place I have ever been. The room is beautiful decorated and very generous in size. Totally green hotel with water coming from rain harvesting and solar panels providing electricity. Love all day free flow drinks. Can't get enough of different gorgeous walking routes around the lodge. Plenty of complimentary tours if you wish to venture outside. If you wish to do just one the light house was my favorite. Although if you love animals then go for the seal tour. For an off beaten track lodge such as this, it is vital

We spent 2 nights as a family and we loved the place. The lodge is wonderful, the rooms sooo big and stilish. The view amazing and the service excellent. To be honest we expect more on the food side. Good but not exceptional. All the organized tours were conducted professionally and with lot of passion.
