The College of Investigative and Remedial Consulting Engineers of Australia, CIRCEA, was founded in 1986 by a group of specialist members of the Association of Consulting Engineers Australia (ACEA). The founding members had long felt the need to have a body which could be a cross-referral centre in investigative and forensic matters in all disciplines of engineering.
It is also intended that CIRCEA should act as a clearing-house for public inquiries, and that it should play a role in providing feedback to Institutions of higher learning, and the like, of experience gained in analysing engineering failures. CIRCEA members are senior engineering practitioners, having considerable experience in their respective fields of expertise.
