Aquastars is an award-winning family business based in Warners Bay, NSW, just east of Lake Macquarie. Current owner Belynda Rocha took the reins in 2017, after her own children completed swim-survival courses and following a 17-year career as a Sydney police officer. Belynda completed major renovations to the Aquastars facility in 2018.
Aquastars specialises in small-group classes for infants and children, and in aqua fitness classes for adults. Our instructors are led by an internationally trained swim-safety expert, and our school is accredited by Swim Australia, the Australian Swim Schools Association, healthyswim, Autism Swim, and other certifying organisations in Australia and beyond.
Aquastars is the only swim school in the Hunter Region to offer intensive swim-survival training for children aged six months to six years. Once children know that they can keep themselves safe in the water, they-and their caregivers-have less reason to worry and more fun to look forward to. Our swim survival courses are extraordinarily popular, and some families find themselves booking nine months or more in advance.
Our carer/child swim lessons are the perfect way for young children to enjoy the water, and a wonderful bonding experience as well. These lessons begin at age 6 months and depending on your child's abilities, you will see them progress over the coming years. Because these classes require direct participation by caregivers, we do our best to accommodate a wide variety of schedules.
Small-group instruction makes our swimming lessons for primary schoolers fun, safe, and effective. Younger children enjoy 1:4 instructor-to-student ratios, while older, more self-directed children are still grouped in classes not exceeding Eight swimmers. Smaller classes mean less waiting around and more productive instructional time-with teachers who get to know each student's strengths and quirks.

The lessons are okay. My gripe is with the customer service. After pre booking and paying in advance for three months, we were told the class was full despite confirmation and payment the week prior. After rescheduling to a different day and timeslot, we were then unable to make it (baby stuff) - this time there was no option to reschedule. No understanding of the situation and we lost the lesson and our money. Doesn't seem fair to me.
