Finding an INDIAN restaurant in cairns was an great thing, more great was When we visited the place the taste was good. The owner himself was present there, he looked after each an everyone personally so that no one had a problem. When looking for a genuine Indian restaurant then look no further than Cairns’ very own Mother India …your authentic venue for the truly fantastic real taste of India.

Not normally adventurous with my pallet but wanted experience authentic Indian cuisine outside of my favourite"butter chicken" so ordered the medium heat chicken korma and the husband ordered the mild chicken tikka masala with garlic naan and it was perfect. Full rich flavour, the medium was enough to cause a light sweat but not uncomfortable. I am really glad I expanded my flavour experience and am so very impressed. Great service and fantastic date night with the hubby 👍👌

This place is ok. The restaurant was 1/3 full but it took about 40 minutes to receive our meal. The curries don't come with much sauce but have heaps of ingredients which was actually a nice change. Taste was decent. Spice level was good. When we asked for some containers to take away the food we couldn't finish, they charged us 50c per container for some tiny containers (photo). They could probably just throw them in like every other restaurant. Menus were old and crusty. Table we had inside was one of those ones that is off balance when you put weight on it. No water pitchers for table, just

One of the worst food I ever had. Visiting from hub of Indian restaurant - San Francisco I knew what is decent Indian food. This place is just trash food.
Nothing is fresh here
Sweet lassi was at least week old
Naan was microwaved.
Curry were old being kept in fridge for edges I assume
Top it off one of the worst service ever. I was there for 10min. In that I saw the menu - ordered the food - food was served in 3min( how in the world you can cook food so quick). I argued how d class the food is. Through 50 dollars on the face and left
Never go this place. Save your pocket and save your abdomen

Outstanding authentic Indian that's not greasy or fatty like some other spots. Beautifully presented dishes. Perfect and plentiful garlic naan and excellent vegetarian selections, plus lots of tasty chicken and lamb dishes. Would recommend they get their extensive menu on their website so folks can order by phone more easily. Friendly and attentive staff. We've gone back heaps since discovering Mother India and always have a great dining or take away experience.

Mother India is by far the best Indian restaurant in Cairns and one of the best I have had the pleasure of dining at outside of India. I cannot believe some of the negative comments on here, as the comments are completely at odds with the actual experience. The owner and his family operate the restaurant more as a hobby and therefore he is particular about the food and the service. Do yourself a big flavour and go to Mother India!
