Finding Balance Psychology & Counselling
Life can be a challenge sometimes, and if you have concerns about your eating habits, weight or body image, life can feel even harder. It can help to get professional support from someone with extensive training and experience in evidence-based strategies; someone who will be respectful, objective and non-judgemental; someone who has your best interests at heart and will help you to get 'back on track' as soon as possible.

Our passion is to help people develop a positive relationship with eating and their body. We help people with restrictive eating / dieting, comfort eating, binge eating, weight or body image concerns and eating disorders. We have a non-diet, body positive philosophy, and promote Intuitive Eating and Health At Every size (HAES) ideas.
Services
What therapies do you use for eating, weight, and body image issues and eating disorders?. Family Based Treatment (FBT), previously called Maudsley family therapy, for teens with eating disorders. No, you don't need a referral from your doctor, however you will only be able to claim a rebate from Medicare if your doctor gives you a specific referral, called a mental health care plan or an eating disorder treatment plan.
Rather than focusing on losing weight, HAES encourages a focus on health and wellbeing for people of all shapes and sizes, including restoring a healthy relationship with food, listening to your hunger and fullness, managing emotions and distress, and encouraging movement and physical activity for the enjoyment and positive benefits it brings, rather than for weight loss.
We offer face to face sessions in our office in Embleton, as well as zoom and phone consults. Medicare and your health fund may provide a rebate for phone or zoom consults, depending on your location and your referral type. The session fee for individual adults is $235, and for all family based therapies is $260.
Are you an experienced eating disorder therapist or eating disorder dietician? Are you looking to move into private practice, or perhaps relocating to Perth to get away from the eastern states lockdowns? Come and join us. We are interested in hearing from dieticians looking for a room rental arrangement with us, or clinical psychologists who are interested in a contractor role, up to 0.6, with some after hours work (5.45pm appointments).
Would you like to improve your skills in supporting clients with eating and body image concerns?. Supervision is an important process for many health professionals, and is mandatory for psychologists. In addition, it will become mandatory for those wanting to be recognized as accredited eating disorder professionals from 2022.

What experience. It was all too hard for her. Didn't even get past the booking process before my referral was rejected. Infact this business does not even deserve a rating 1 recognition.
