Services
Michael graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1979, then worked in mixed practice in Mildura and Seymour. He returned to Melbourne in 1981 and worked at Monash Vet Clinic which specialised in greyhounds and movement disorders of show dogs. He has been at Doncaster Veterinary Hospital since 1985.
Our veterinarians and nurses provide exceptional surgical and medical care to your family pets - because your pets are like family to us. Doncaster Vet Hospital is one of the leading vet clinics in Melbourne and has been providing veterinary services for over 55 years. Doncaster Vet Hospital was established by Dr Ian Bradley in Donvale in 1964 and was one of the first purpose built veterinary hospitals in the country.
Whether it's time for your pet's annual checkup or you have a specific health concern, a consultation will give our vets a chance to look over your pet and get to know them if it's their first visit to the clinc. A standard consultation with a vet is usually 15 minutes. In this time, the vet will be able to perform an examination of your pet and discuss any concerns you may have.
Good dental hygiene is one of the easiest ways to keep your pet healthy. Our experienced vets are trained to perform dental checks, teeth cleaning and dental surgery on your dog or cat. Dental disease in dogs and cats can affect their general health and wellbeing.

As well as them suffering from symptoms such as pain, discomfort and difficulty chewing, dental disease can contribute to other serious diseases such as diabetes, kidney disease and heart disease. We recommend a dental check up at least once a year which can be included in any appointment - just ask the vet.
Bringing home a new puppy is an exciting time. However, it is also a big change for you and your puppy. To ensure that the transition into their new home goes smoothly, and that they grow up into a well-adjusted member of the family, puppy school is needed.

Up until 16 weeks of age, puppies are in the critical socialisation development phase in which they absorb the most information and form behaviours that will stay with them for the rest of their lives. It is important to ensure they are introduced to a number of different experiences, socialised with other dogs of different breeds and sizes, and are given boundaries and structure.

My geriatric cat went in for a dental procedure with Dr Hootan. Dr. Hootan provided the best care for "Cat" and gave amazing pre, during and post procedure gold standard treatment for my fur child. I was informed of how he went very promptly post procedure, which was appreciated as I know how under the pump these amazing professionals are during covid lockdown. Thank you Dr. Hootan for giving my baby the best care and thank you to the nursing staff that assisted during his long procedure.

We have been going to Doncaster Vet Clinic for the last 17 years, all doctors and nurses as brilliant. Was delighted to have Dr Hootan look after Udon in complex emergency situations. His dedication, responsiveness, knowledge and experience really helps to put you and your dog at ease and you know they will get the best care. Dr Hootan even went above and beyond, staying behind after his work hours to attend to Udon, who is now making a quick recovery and bouncing off walls already, always super excited to see Dr Hootan who surely has made a lasting positive impact on him.

Came here to do the check-up for our little Groodle puppy and later on for her neutering operation. The staff is so amazing and they really seem to care. The price is fair too. Dr Hootan is so amazing. He took his time answering any questions we had and he never made us feel rushed. We continue going there for our puppy and I'd recommend Hootan and his team if you are after a reliable service.

Dr Hootan is simply the best. He is extremely knowable and truly loves small animals. He will take the time to throughly check my pet Chewy, (who is a really difficult patient) and then will take the time to explain to me her tests, results, and problems. I cannot recommend him enough and I trust him to give me the best advice for my cat.
