Visa Lawyers Australia has been a trusted advisor to large and small companies and organisations, including multinationals, since 2001. We have extensive experience in securing temporary work visas, permanent work visas, sponsorship and labour agreements across numerous sectors and occupation types, from Chief Executive Officer level down.
There are a number of visa options that allow employers to support foreign nationals to travel to or remain in Australia to undertake work or other activities for a specified, temporary period of time. The visa options available will depend on a number of factors, including the purpose of the appointment, the nature of the activities to be undertaken, the skills and experience of the foreign national and the duration of the position.
The 400 visa allows foreign nationals with highly specialised skills not generally available in Australia to travel to Australia to undertake specialist work. Once approved, the 400 visa holder may undertake the work as an employee or as a contractor. Generally, 400 visas are granted for a short period of stay of up to 3 months.
The TSS subclass 482 visa program is the most commonly used pathway for employers to sponsor workers to work in Australia on a temporary basis to fill skilled positions. Analogous to the previously available 457 visa, the TSS 482 visa scheme allows the worker to be employed for a period of up to 4 years, depending on the worker's occupation.
The visa options listed in this section allow employers to nominate suitably-skilled and experienced workers for permanent residency. Depending on the visa pathway selected, it may be necessary to demonstrate a business need for the position and offer the worker full time employment for a prescribed period.
