SOMNIA Sleep Services
Sleeping difficulties affect us all from time to time, but for some poor sleep can become more persistent and result in a number of negative consequences. SOMNIA is an Adelaide psychology clinic striving to help individuals and families get a better night's sleep. We have over 10 years' experience working in this area and offer a friendly and supportive environment using evidence based treatments.

While the majority of our clients are children and adolescents and their parents, we also help adults experiencing poor sleep. As Psychologists, we are also able to provide therapy for co-existing issues, such as anxiety, depression, behaviour and anger problems. As mum's ourselves, we have been there and we know how you feel!
Services
We are Clinical Psychologists who have years of experience using the best evidence-based treatments for sleeping difficulties. Importantly, we are also mum's who have had our share of lack of sleep and efforts at trying to improve our children's sleep over the years. We can also offer support with other issues that often come hand in hand with sleeping problems, such as anxiety, depression, behaviour problems, and many others.
SOMNIA places great importance on using evidence-based treatment methods and we specifically tailor treatment programs to each individual and/or family in a collaborative manner. This means we won's push you to do something that you are not comfortable with, and we will provide you with a clear rationale for anything we recommend.
For younger babies (less than 6 months) we are able to provide you with some advice and guidance around bedtime routines, education about babies sleep, sleep schedules for different age ranges, as well as some gentle sleep techniques to assist your baby to sleep more soundly. For older babies (6 to 18 months), as a rule of thumb, most babies' sleep settles around the age of 6 months and they start to sleep for longer periods.
Sleep problems can persist from infancy through to childhood, while others can develop sleep problems during the school years. There are many different types of sleeping problems in this age range, and for some the patterns are strikingly similar to adults with insomnia. We offer separate treatment programs for younger (2-6yrs) and older children (7-12yrs).
Adolescent sleep problems are widespread, with 1 in 2 adolescents barely getting enough sleep to function well during the day. Many adolescents can develop a delayed body clock, take a long time to fall asleep, have trouble waking in the morning and sleep in a long time on weekends. Others can develop insomnia like problems and have anxiety before sleep.
