Acorn Psychology was established to offer psychological services based on current research and knowledge as to what works best within a warm and supportive environment. Our psychologists work with children, adolescents, and adults, and as a professional group, we are able to work with individuals, couples, families, and groups.
We draw from our combined experience in hospital, university, community and private practice settings to offer a service that is both professional and caring. We seek to ensure that our clients receive the highest quality service from the time the first appointment is made, and we are supported by professional reception staff.

Services
As a team of psychologists, each with areas of special interest and expertise, we are able to offer specialised therapeutic support across the lifespan, for many recognised psychological difficulties and developmental challenges. We enjoy the opportunity to complete thorough assessments for people wishing to better understand their psychological, academic, or social functioning.
Psychologists are trained to provide support in addressing life transitions, surviving and thriving in the face of life challenges, as well as the treatment of mental health difficulties such as depression or anxiety. At Acorn Psychology, we work with people across the lifespan. We can work with individuals, couples, families and groups, depending on your needs.
While individual psychologist approaches vary somewhat, as a group our overriding goal is to identify the approach that will work best for you, and to offer that approach in a way that makes sense and feels right. We are interested in the development of emotional competence, and part of our assessment involves a needs analysis as to whether there are any strategy based approaches that might support coping.
Medicare rebates are available when a GP has completed a GP Mental Health Care Plan. When assessed as eligible, most people are able to access up to ten sessions in any calendar year under Better Access. Health insurance rebates are also possible under 'extras' cover.
It is not possible to access both a Medicare rebate and a health insurance rebate for the same service, however you may choose to use your health insurance once you have used all ten Medicare sessions. Some people prefer to access services without a Medicare rebate, and no referral is necessary if choose not to receive a rebate.

Started by Kelly Murray in 2008 in Box Hill, Acorn Psychology moved to Canterbury in 2012. The practice exists to offer excellent services and we constantly strive to learn more and do better for our clients. We have built a team of psychologists who run their own independent practices within the space, and who are happy to work collaboratively with one another.
